Who is he: Dr. Antal Fekete is an esteemed author, mathematician, monetary scientist and educator. Antal is well known today for his revolutionary plan for a "parallel" gold-coin oriented monetary system that can over time remove us from the Federal Reserve System. Fekete is also a member of the advisory board for The Foundation for the Advancement of Free-Market Thinking (FAFMT).
Dr. Fekete is a proponent of the gold standard and a critic of the current monetary system. Fekete's work falls into the school of free-market economic thought led by Carl Menger and more recently Ludwig von Mises. His advanced understanding of monetary and economic issues has enabled Fekete to inspire a new generation of critical thought that advances the traditional Austrian view of how a free-market monetary system could work most efficiently.
Dr. Antal Fekete, while basing his work on Ludwig von Mises has more than almost anyone else in the current era provided cogent criticism of some of von Mises' most important points. Fekete has postulated alternative free-market theories in the area of interest rates, bond behavior and even inflation itself. The results of his rethinking have led to the creation of the The New Austrian School of Economics.
The school is meant for those (including beginners) interested in the Austrian theory of money, credit, and banking, with special emphasis on the present financial and economic crisis. The complete program consists of four courses (10 days, 20 lectures each). Completion of each of the four courses will earn one credit. Participants who have accumulated four credits will earn a diploma signed by Professor Fekete.
Background: Dr. Antal Fekete was born in Budapest, Hungary in 1932 and graduated from the Eötvös Loránd University of Budapest in mathematics in 1955. In 1956 Fekete emigrated to Canada, where he was appointed Assistant Professor at Memorial University of Newfoundland in 1958.
During this period Professor Fekete also had tours of duty as a visiting professor at Columbia University in the city of New York (1961), Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland (1964), Acadia University, Wolfville, Nova Scotia (1970), Princeton University, New Jersey (1974). Since 2005 Dr. Fekete has been Professor at Large of Intermountain Institute for Science and Applied Mathematics (IISAM) in Missoula, Montana.
