Charles Payne

Charles Payne

Who is he: Charles V. Payne is a Fox business analyst and founder, CEO and chief analyst of Wall Street Strategies, Inc. (WSSI), which he founded in 1991. WSSI is an independent stock market research company providing information to over tens of thousands of subscribers in scores of countries as well as several of the largest bank/brokerage firms.

Charles Payne oversees a team of stock analysts that cover specific industry groups, in addition to monitoring the entire market and individual sectors on his own. As a Fox business regular, he has access to Fox's vast audience of business savvy consumers and his popularity is such that Fox has continually offered him new challenges and assignments.

Payne is a regular contributor to the Fox Business and Fox News Networks. In addition, Payne continually provides opinions on the market to scores of news organizations such as Reuters, the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times, and has been the keynote speaker at many investment conferences worldwide.

Payne's book, Act Fast, Be Smart and Get Rich debuted in April 2007. Payne attended Minot State College and Central Texas College during his time in the Air Force and majored in criminal justice. Payne began his career with EF Hutton in 1985.

Background: Charles Payne is a self-described Army brat who has lived all over the world, including Japan and Germany. Payne attended many different schools, the High School of Art & Design in New York being the only one Payne attended for more than one year. Payne went to college at Minot State in North Dakota, Central Texas College and Baruch College.

Payne's own military service experience was mixed in the sense that he says there was still prejudice against people of color. Payne recalls that when he got to his first base, the dorm had about seven Confederate flags covering windows, which "scared and angered" him at the same time. Yet Payne recalls he made a lot of friends – even including the individuals who had placed those flags on the walls. Payne also has said that he didn't appreciate his military experience until later in life when he started his own business.

Charles Payne began with Fox after Neil Cavuto moved over from CNBC. Payne knew Cavuto from CNBC and followed him to Fox where he has become a contributor to the Fox News Channel. He has been involved with the Fox Business Network from 'day one.' He is also on Varney & Co each morning on FBN.
