America's biggest teacher and principal cheating scandal unfolds in Atlanta ... At least 178 teachers and principals in Atlanta Public Schools cheated to raise student scores on high-stakes standardized tests, according to a report from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Award-winning gains by Atlanta students were based on widespread cheating by 178 named teachers and principals, said Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal on Tuesday. His office released a report from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation that names 178 teachers and principals – 82 of whom confessed – in what's likely the biggest cheating scandal in US history. This appears to be the largest of dozens of major cheating scandals, unearthed across the country. – Yahoo News/USA Today
Dominant Social Theme: How can this happen after all the billions poured into America's public schools? It seemed finally that the system was headed in the right direction. What a setback.
Free-Market Analysis: No doubt there will be thousands of articles written about this most recent "teacher and principal cheating scandal." (See excerpt above.) Yet, what is taking place is entirely predictable and, as the article reports further down, cheating is taking place throughout the country. This only happens to be largest outbreak and therefore is most newsworthy.
It was President George W. Bush who, in addition to presiding over several unsuccessful and questionable wars, pushed through "No Child Left Behind" legislation that mandates national testing on a regular basis. The only rational way to improve the educational system is through competition – the Invisible Hand. But the Bush Administration and Congress, loathe to open up the system to competition, substituted legislation for competition with predictable results.
There is no law in the world that cannot be subverted; most laws of any significance are disobeyed on a regular basis. This is why the more laws a society has the more corrupt it gets. This is happening in the US public school system, which was always dysfunctional and corrupt and is only more so now. Here's more about the scandal:
The article allegations point an ongoing problem for US education, which has developed an ever-increasing dependence on standardized tests. The report on the Atlanta Public Schools, released Tuesday, indicates a "widespread" conspiracy by teachers, principals and administrators to fix answers on the Criterion-Referenced Competency Test (CRCT), punish whistle-blowers, and hide improprieties.
It "confirms our worst fears," says Mayor Kasim Reed. "There is no doubt that systemic cheating occurred on a widespread basis in the school system." The news is "absolutely devastating," said Brenda Muhammad, chairwoman of the Atlanta school board. "It's our children. You just don't cheat children."
On its face, the investigation tarnishes the 12-year tenure of Superintendent Beverly Hall, who was named US Superintendent of the Year in 2009 largely because of the school system's reported gains – especially in inner-city schools. She has not been directly implicated, but investigators said she likely knew, or should have known, what was going on. In her farewell address to teachers in June, Hall for the first time acknowledged wrongdoing in the district, but blamed other administrators.
Brenda Muhammad, above, is "devastated" by the scandal, which she claims "cheats children." But American school children have been cheated since the inception of public schooling. Pre-Civil War literacy rates in America are said to have been very high; today, in America, a significant minority of students do not even finish high school and the literacy rate is abysmal.
The simple reason for this is lack of competition. By draining the school system of competition by creating a public school monopoly, the US educational powers-that-be virtually guaranteed the dysfunction that is currently taking place. Unionization has only made matters worse.
The Atlanta cheating scandal, the article tells us, is not by any means the first cheating scandal affecting schools. It is perfectly predictable. Set up a non-competitive system which does not reward excellence to begin with and then use testing to try to improve it and people will ... cheat: students, teachers and principals alike. Many schools now "educate for the test" – a situation in which rote memorization of test facts substitutes for learning.
Cheating in Atlanta Public Schools, the article tells us, is on the rise. While the 55,000-student Atlanta public school system gained notice for its positive testing results in the early 2000s, recent investigations show that teachers and principals in nearly 50 schools were erasing and changing test answers.
The situation was compounded by a refusal to investigate. "In one case, an administrator instructed employees to tell investigators to 'go to hell.' ... When teachers tried to alert authorities, they were labeled 'disgruntled' ... one principal opened an ethics investigation against a whistleblower."
Again, these results stem from a lack of competition. When competition is drained, then other methods of encouraging must be brought to bear: testing and monitoring will figure prominently. But the flaw is, of course, that testing and monitoring are being practiced by those who have the most to lose. It is an untenable situation, one that has seemingly been constructed to blow up. And it has.
According to the article, a USA Today investigation in March found "erasure data" in six states. Such investigative results led Michael Sarbanes, the district's community engagement director, to suggest that cheating in such cases is "inherent in human nature, [although] we think people who do that are outliers."
They may or may not be outliers, but what is clear is that the system continues to pile MORE pressure on testing and its results. At least 10 states use test scores as a main way of evaluating teachers and others award teachers up to US$25,000 in bonuses for classes that score well on these tests. Likewise, the ramifications of poor test results are also significant. Teachers and principals can lose their jobs; entire schools can be shut down or merged.
Atlanta education columnist, Maureen Downey writes that the most alarming part of the scandal is that "these professionals ultimately felt their students could not even pass basic competency tests, despite targeted school improvement plans, proven reforms, and state-of-the-art teacher training."
One is struck by the astonishment of Downey, and of the larger educational establishment. From the very beginning the public school system has been a pawn in a larger game. When it was first implemented at the turn of the century, one of the justifications was to appeal to prejudice. US citizens in the Northeast were told that it would remove the Irish from the private school system. At the time, there was considerable prejudice against the "Papist" Irish.
The system that was put in place was actually a German one developed in Germany and refined by Otto von Bismarck, the "Iron Chancellor." These "Gymnasiums" were notable because they taught children in a graded formation. Previously, children had all been taught together and there was no age distinction, with older children helping the younger ones.
What is never addressed today is the reason for the reconfigured system: It had to do with military accommodations. The idea was that boys educated together from childhood, and sent into battle together as well, would result in far more cohesive units. Public education was basically a way of increasing the efficiency of the German war machine.
Inevitably, this system spread to Britain and Europe and then to the United States. It was further complicated in the US by famous educator John Dewey who imported the dysfunctional see-and-say system from Russia into the US. Dewey, like the Soviet-Russians of the day, believed that the function of education was mainly one of socializing in order to turn out compliant workers.
George Bush's "no child left behind" legislation added a further authoritarian overlay to what is already a dysfunctional system. Originally conceived to add military prowess to German armies, the system was further redefined in America and Russia as one that was intended to turn out obedient, regimented workers. Learning was a secondary to the goal of achieving submissive subjects who would willingly succumb to life-long mind control. Naturally, mainstream media would be there to pick up the slack and further the "education process" when the public school days of a subject were completed.
Today's testing cannot "gild the lily." There is none. The only hope of solving the education problem in the US is to allow educational facilities to compete – to privatize the educational establishment from top-to-bottom and let the Invisible Hand do its work.
Conclusion: Of course, the Anglosphere elites that have adopted and supported this system are not apt to allow such competition. They are not interested in using the system to create alert, educated individuals capable of critical thinking. They seek socialized workers and cannon fodder; that is what public education has been constructed to provide. Corruption is far more tolerable than an educated populace.

These two sentences tell the entire story. The rest is, scientifically speaking, just a useless talk.
The foundation of the entire US society is rotten to Hell. The US society is totally corrupt and perverted. Corruption is a cancerous disease that metastases into all parts of a patient body. The latest story about the US educational system corruption and failure is just another display & manifestation of this terrible disease and its consequences.
This is what the Ruling Elite from the City of London and the Wall Street has been trying to achieve for a very long time. Why? Because, RE needs a runaway corruption when, using their 'printed out of thin air' fiat money, they can get control over the entire society without encounter a strong resistance and backlash.
Let me tell you my own story:
I went to a neighborhood, just 5 walking minutes from my home, school in Moscow, USSR. It took place shortly after the Stalin death. I went through all 10 grades.
To move to the next grade, every single pupil had to take a state examination. If you pass, you go to the next grade. If you fail, you must go back and repeat you studies in the old grade. If you failed the second time, you were expelled from a school and sent to a school for losers learning factory/farm skills and later you were drafted to an army. 85% of high-school graduates went to various colleges and universities and successfully graduated becoming engineers, scientists, MDs, etc.,
I went and graduated from the Moscow State University. Then, for a few years, I worked in Soviet Academy of Science. Then, I immigrated to the USA where I went on graduating from MIT.
Following this, I worked for major US corporations running major US defense R&D programs for the USAF. Now, I have my own biotech business.
I my opinion, in my time, the Soviet educational system was excellent! I am a good example of it. There was not any stinking corruption. Both teachers and parents were striving for good & quality education. The State was very serious about quality of education. My school was not any different from thousands school all over USSR.
The bottom line, the State can run good educational system but it must have a solid moral and ethical foundation. Just look at Chinese immigrants in the USA. They go to US schools and get good education because their parents want them be successful in their lives. The same you cannot say about Mexicans.
Both the West and Russia have very similar vested interests to spread the same or very similar lies, disinformation, and misinformation. The Nuremberg Trial was a good example of it.
I do not want to be very difficult but let me ask you a few simple questions:
- What do you know about Russia, USSR, and Russia again?
- What sources of information/data do you use doing your analyses and making your conclusions about the Russia events and its history?

1) On my part, I will gladly share with you my some of my sources of information.
2) The fall of the USSR has nothing to do with the excellent educational and medical systems Soviets had in 1950s and 1960s.
3) The fall of the USSR took place because the Soviet leadership was too mediocre, too dogmatic, and too corrupt. This is why Chinese, so far, were able to succeed and to "prosper" by adapting to the dinamics of changing geopolitical, political, and economic environments.

We don't necessarily believe this. Increasingly, we think the "fall" may have been at least partially a directed one designed to create the new "synthesis" out of the thesis (US) and antithesis (USSR). We are not so sure as you that the Chinese have "adapted" to the "new dynamics" either. Seems like a classic bubble to us. Time will tell.

In an era of government worship, the supreme social heretic, that threatens the regime, cannot be allowed the utterance of seditious sentiments. How dare any man write such subversion?

Such a threat to the ordained order cannot be left to stoke the fires of public dissent. This rebel, name Thomas Jefferson, cannot be tolerated to spread the declaration of heterodoxy for independence from the rule of the state.
Since the quid essential doctrine of political history is now condemned as a relic of the past, why would any sane person believe that a declaration of independence can coexist in a society of laws, that violate nature and justifies the righteous authority for insurrection?
'The Great Unwashed' who pledge their loyalty to the central government are a mere shadow of the subjects who created an emancipated land out of the bowels of a tyrannical empire. Those brave souls, who risked their lives, and more importantly, their sacred honor, for the dignity of Inherent Autonomy; have long passed away. They were the essence of the Alexis de Tocqueville's portrayal of the sterling character that elevated an infant nation into a remarkable country. The famous citation from Democracy in America ends with 'America is great because she is good, and if America ever ceases to be good, she will cease to be great.'
Today the remnants of idiosyncratic sovereignty rest in the funeral ashes of a burnt carcass.
For well over a century, the systemic dismantling of traditional education is an essential objective of transforming America into a despotic dependency. Education is a process, not an indoctrination. Schools should be about tutoring in the methods of critical thinking. Sound techniques and competent teachers can assist learning development. However, it has been decades since public schools provided a positive function. Dysfunctional Public Education Is No Accident sums up the issue:
"Government schools have worked their socialization for several generations, with alarming success. Their objective is not the education of the individual pupil, but the assimilation of the next generation into society. The kind of conversion that is sought, impedes independent thinking. Areas of inquiry are now limited to 'PC' approved viewpoints."
The "TC" mindset is an outgrowth of the "PC" culture. Government schools primary mission is to program underdeveloped minds with a State approved curriculum. The net result of this civic brain washing machine is a dumbed down idiot that is unable to function as an independent individual. Totalitarian Collectivism is all about the supremacy of the State and a genuinely educated population is the greatest threat to the regime.

Education in USA is fatal example of colapsed ideologies of the 20th century. Education in the USA got into this stage due lack of traditional values:
COMPETITION AND FREE MARKET. There is many nonsenses told in america, like "american company". American people needs improve constitution- mandatory referendum and political system: multiparty, straight elections. It is like car. When is new and runs it makes you happy. After years it is time to replace it for newer model to prevent hassles with breakdown. America did not prevented hassles by improving political system which in reality never worked well as golden rule. America today is a society in denial. The country's political, cultural and intellectual leadership -- both liberal and conservative -- denies social reality and ignores the historical record, and therefore inevitably betrays the interests of the people, leading America down a path that means ever greater anxiety and ever more rapid decline ... It is criminal to think that students nationwide should somehow fit into a single mold. Don't tell me about charter schools, magnet schools, private schools, etc. Yes there are differences, a few major, almost all minor. But for 98% of the student population, the differences are immaterial. Learn to be obedient, learn by memorizing trivialities, learn to conform. Or face punishment and be ostracized.
And then we wonder (on this site and other alternative-view sites) why most people fawn over what their political 'leaders' tell them.
John Taylor Gatto has written several books on this subject. He was an award winning teacher in New York City; often railed against by various administrators for his practices of actually 'educating' students as opposed to 'schooling' them. I offer some comments from one of his books, wonderfully entitled 'Weapons of Mass Instruction.'
In it, he often mentions the names Rockefeller and Carnegie as men behind the significant increase in clamor for public funding and centralization of education in the US. He identifies the early 'pioneers' of this movement, often funded with endowment money from (or otherwise connected to) the fortunes of these two industry titans.
The following are all points taken from this book:
He quotes H.L. Mencken: 'The aim [of public education] is simply to reduce as many individuals as possible to the same safe level, to breed and train a standardized citizenry, to put down dissent and originality'
Professor Arthur Calhoun wrote that the fondest wish of utopian thinkers was coming true: children were passing from blood families 'into the custody of community experts.'
Gatto cites statistics on literacy as measured by US Army tests of potential recruits - literacy defined as a fourth grade reading proficiency. From WWII to the Korean War, literacy dropped from 96% to 81%. By Vietnam, it fell to 73%.
In 1940, national literacy for blacks was measured at 80%; despite ALL the disadvantages to those in this population, four out of five were literate. Six decades later, the number fell to 60%. Twice the number were now illiterate.
All this despite the money spent on schooling in real terms having increased by 350%.
From a student-teacher letter to the editor in 1995: 113 years earlier, fifth graders in Minneapolis were reading Shakespeare, Thoreau, Washington, Twain, Franklin, and many others. Today, this student teacher is told fifth graders are not to be expected to correctly spell: back, big, call, came, can (the list continues with 30 similarly 'complicated' words).
According to William Harris, US Commissioner of Education from 1889 to 1906, the tool to build such a society [amicable folk waiting around for someone to tell them what to do] was psychological alienation. Alienate children from themselves so they could no longer turn inward for strength, alienation from families, traditions, religions, cultures - so no outside source of advise could contradict the will of the political state.
Gatto continues much further, obviously. If you weren't already sickened by the centralization of education before you read one of his books, you most certainly would be afterwards - assuming you had an ounce of individuality left in you after years of regimentation.
I have referred to a statement by R.J. Rushdoony before; I do so again - but this time by quoting Gary North:
R. J. Rushdoony had little patience with conservatives who complained about high taxes. 'They have tithed their children to the State, and then they complain against how much the government is costing them.' He thought all such tax protests would come to nothing. Well, not nothing, exactly. Mass inflation.
We suffer under central banking because we suffer under central education. Yet most parents are happy to be relieved of the burden of raising their children. The world is crumbling all around them and many don't see it. Or if they see it, they are oblivious as to understand the underlying causes.
The state will educate your children. A more damnable concept cannot be invented (well, that and central banking). What should be seen as a curse, something to run from, is instead seen as a relief.

Are all Russians the same?
Not that I believe states can ever be controlled, nor exhibit "self-control" and, quality education is INCOMPATIBLE with "controlling the serfs".

This may be further emphasized by a comment from my father who was educated in the early 1900s; he observed that a high school graduate in 1910 had as much education as a college graduate in 1940.
So now we sentence young children to 12 years of mind boring rote. Their crime is to be underfoot when parents have other pressing needs (such as earning sufficient money to pay for food and shelter - - and to pay taxes for the boring rote). That's the system into which we are born and will probably die in, having been indoctrinated rather than educated.

Let me tell you my own story:
I went to a neighborhood, just 5 walking minutes from my home, school in Moscow, USSR. It took place shortly after the Stalin death. I went through all 10 grades.
To move to the next grade, every single pupil had to take a state examination. If you pass, you go to the next grade. If you fail, you must go back and repeat you studies in the old grade. If you failed the second time, you were expelled from a school and sent to a school for losers learning factory/farm skills and later you were drafted to an army. 85% of high-school graduates went to various colleges and universities and successfully graduated becoming engineers, scientists, MDs, etc.,
I went and graduated from the Moscow State University. Then, for a few years, I worked in Soviet Academy of Science. Then, I immigrated to the USA where I went on graduating from MIT.
Following this, I worked for major US corporations running major US defense R&D programs for the USAF. Now, I have my own biotech business.
I my opinion, in my time, the Soviet educational system was excellent! I am a good example of it. There was not any stinking corruption. Both teachers and parents were striving for good & quality education. The State was very serious about quality of education. My school was not any different from thousands school all over USSR.
The bottom line, the State can run good educational system but it must have a solid moral and ethical foundation. Just look at Chinese immigrants in the USA. They go to US schools and get good education because their parents want them be successful in their lives. The same you cannot say about Mexicans.
You did pretty well until "The same you cannot say about Mexicans.", a pretty unfair and gross generalization.
Are all Russians the same?
Not that I believe states can ever be controlled, nor exhibit "self-control" and, quality education is INCOMPATIBLE with "controlling the serfs".

These two sentences tell the entire story. The rest is, scientifically speaking, just a useless talk.
The foundation of the entire US society is rotten to Hell. The US society is totally corrupt and perverted. Corruption is a cancerous disease that metastases into all parts of a patient body. The latest story about the US educational system corruption and failure is just another display & manifestation of this terrible disease and its consequences.
This is what the Ruling Elite from the City of London and the Wall Street has been trying to achieve for a very long time. Why? Thanks for an informative feedback. We disagree about the USSR however. You may believe the schooling was efficient but where is the USSR now? As an entity it didn't work. It has vanished along with its schools ...

These efforts are not the real issue however as has been detected by the Bionic Mosquito. The real issue is standards set by the State whether for private or for public schools. The power to set standards, curricula and syllabuses of reading and teaching matter is a significant authority to possess. This is the authority that has always been sought by those who seek to control our lives and minds and hearts. The control of the monetary and banking system is merely a means to an end. The authority to make the laws or standards by which the people must live has always been the goal.
The reason for this is because those who seek this authority KNOW that the power of sin (lawbreaking) is the law. By controlling the making of laws they control both the stimulus to sin and the specific type of sins. Then they also control the judicial function to condemn and punish sin even to the penalty of death. "The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law." (1 Corinthians 15:56) "For the wages of sin is death.." (Romans 6:23) In this way they control the population through the fear of punishment and death. This is real power and it is what is behind everything that is discussed here at the Daily Bell.

The whole point of globalism, starting with subversion of our leaders and instutions to the globalist cause IS to establish "nowhere to run, nowhere to hide".
In other words, eliminate the "flight" CHOICE from "flight or fight".
That leaves "fight", a rapidly emerging majority consensus.

What is lacking in modern teaching is VOCATION. Teachers today are professionals and they are PROUD of this fact. They spend a great deal of time improving their professional standing and seeking more professional acclaim. This is COMPETITIVE behaviour and is focused on SELF improvement and SELF aggrandisement and SELF esteem all of which is passed on to their pupils. The idea of being a SERVANT to the OTHER, the children, is absent from modern thinking and it is very unlikely to return this side of the coming age since the ethic that gave it impetus, the Christian emphasis on family and servanthood, has largely disappeared from the world.

This is a competition to test conformity to state mandated objectives. It is not competition in any meaningful sense of the term. It is evil.
"The result is that parents lie about their residence to gain entrance to high achiever schools..."
Imagine, the parents are cheating in a desperate attempt to get their children into the school that achieves the highest level of conformity to what the government desires.
Those pulling the strings behind the curtain must giggle with glee when they see such behavior.
