South Africa Vanishes With Its Gold?

By Staff Report
18

Last week's shocking announcement by Statistics South Africa that the nation's gold production had hit a 90-year low was met with token media coverage and surprisingly, hardly any outrage from labour unions, civil society or indeed the country's population at large ... The legacy of hatred and bitterness incited by the Anglo-Boer war and its cruel aftermath stimulated a toxic and destructive Afrikaner nationalism that eventually took hold of the country, with repercussions lasting almost a century. Throughout this period, gold provided an underpin to the nation's economy. It contributed handsomely to tax coffers and generated valuable foreign revenue. What followed was spectacular wealth for a few and employment for thousands of desperate, marginalised people under despicable conditions at a very low wage. – Daily Maverick

Dominant Social Theme: Everything is still okay. Once apartheid died, the future became bright in both Zimbabwe and South Africa.

Free-Market Analysis: We never believed that either Zimbabwe or South Africa would work out as countries with a shared black and white heritage. Our fears have already been borne out in Zimbabwe and soon, we fear, the same sort of destruction will be visited on South Africa.

Within this context, gold production can serve as a sort of metaphor or barometer of national health. Now that gold production has hit a 90-year low, we wonder if South Africa itself is beginning to descend into the kind of vicious racism that has so scarred Zimbabwe.

Certainly black people in South Africa and Zimbabwe are justified in harboring a certain bitterness in their hearts over what occurred. But as circumstances change, so should those feelings. To continue to hate white people for apartheid in South Africa is ultimately self-defeating. It will likely contribute to lower South African living standards and diminished wealth. This has already happened in Zimbabwe.

The African National Congress (ANC), Africa's dominant political party, is having a good deal of trouble proceeding and reports are that it might break up into several factions. One of the ways ANC leaders are attempting to salvage their political fortunes is by whipping up black-on-white resentment. This has the predictable effect of putting psychological pressure on white people in South Africa. Here's an excerpt from a recent article on South Africa and a potential white exodus:

More white, Indian youth want to leave South Africa: survey ... The number of white and Indian South African youth wishing to leave the country has increased, according to a survey. Spokeswoman Shirley Wakefield said 2606 respondents aged between 18 and 34 participated in the survey, where they were asked if they wanted to live in the country for good or if they wished to live in another country.

"Fifty-six percent of whites, and 53% of Indians expressed the desire to emigrate, far higher than black respondents with 33%, and coloureds at 43%," said Wakefield in a statement. The company said the overall number of youths who wished to leave the country rose from 25% three months ago to 36% in November.

"The findings of our latest survey are alarming. In only three months, the number of young South Africans wanting to emigrate has increased by nearly 50%," said Wakefield. She said the survey showed that those who wanted to leave the most were mostly young people whose skills were desperately needed in the country.

It would be a great shame if South Africa would go the way of Zimbabwe. But we would not be surprised. The results of escalating South African infighting will not benefit any population. But inevitably, failing politicians will create further discord to suit their own purposes.

The white upper classes and landowners are starting to leave in larger numbers, from what we can tell. Lower-class whites will not likely travel abroad beyond the continent so they will go to other African countries that will welcome them for their food growing skills, according to sources familiar with the South African scene.

The result will be basically to weaken food security around Africa and to bring Nigeria's dominance to the fore. Nigeria is a huge country with a corrupt political culture and its ascendance will not benefit Africa greatly, from what we have heard.

Nonetheless, from our point of view this is what the Western elites have been driving toward as they apparently wish to construct world government and to create an African Union that is analogous to the European Union in size if not in efficacy.

It is not well understood that the system of apartheid was developed by the British in the 1920s and imposed on South Africa. The Boers did not invent it, though they grew up under it and eventually endorsed it or at least tried to reconfigure it to make it work.

But how can one make institutionalized racism work? The other end of the disinformation spectrum presents the current crop of black leaders as "wise men" who will rescue South Africa from a violent and dissonant destiny.

Thus, we have a dominant social theme – that government actions taken to reduce racism are feasible and effective. The subdominant theme in this case is the idea that the current crop of black leaders in South Africa (and Zimbabwe) is capable of configuring a wiser government than previous white governments.

Both of these ideas contribute to the larger power elite meme that government itself is a malleable force for good and a necessary one when it comes to addressing the ills of society. For this reason, there has not been the kind of emphasis on Zimbabwe's miserable decline that there was on apartheid regimes in South Africa and Rhodesia (before it was renamed).

If South Africa falls apart, there will not be a great deal of mainstream reporting, either, we would guess. In fact, the power elite will simply push forward with their plans to centralize Africa under one regime. The removal of Libya's Muammar Gaddafi was a step in this direction, from what we can tell.

The article above points out that the ANC-led government has made "great strides in improving the lives of the average mine worker. Despite these efforts, which were not only necessary but overdue, it has sadly watched in despair as gold production began a progressively downward slide."

What has been the result? " Frustratingly, this too culminated in an ever-increasing metals prices market, of which the country saw no benefit."

This is, in fact, the larger story of South Africa and Zimbabwe. As blacks have finally overcome some of the horrors of apartheid, their governments have focused cruelly on socialism and the expansion of quasi-authoritarian rule. They have overpromised and under-delivered.

The Maverick puts its this way: "Quite simply, government has failed in its duty to nurture the industry that continues to employ thousands of people – and the many more that depend on them for a decent living. Informal research indicates that up to seven people are directly supported by every South African miner."

And The Maverick adds:

Whilst its intentions may have been noble, government's stringent requirements on the industry have placed management under pressure to comply with excessive bureaucracy in the form of biased labour legislation. The result is that rather than focusing on operations, management is often locked in protracted wage negotiations with labour, their hands tied by the fact that the very same labour is increasingly unproductive. There is a high prevalence of silicosis, tuberculosis and HIV/Aids in mines across SA."

The industry has suffered crippling strikes – the damage not only confined to the number of days lost to no production. The knock-on effects are significant.

Why on earth would investors sink vast amounts of capital into new or expansion projects if government is perceived to be charging them a kings ransom, only at the same time unable to assure them of basic services?

In South Africa, the past does matter. It explains the present. Gold, and the mining industry in general, continues to set the agenda – in this case, the political. But for how much longer? Gold's significant 200-year influence on the Republic of South Africa is soon coming to end, some say within 30 years. What a sad day it shall be.

It will be a sad day, indeed, but one that could still be avoided if there is more stress on free markets in South Africa and less emphasis on the evils of apartheid and the continuing exploitation of African blacks by white people. But if land expropriation becomes the chosen course and if white people do not even receive compensation for their lands, the bitterness shall rise and the future shall beckon that parallels Zimbabwe.

Conclusion: The consistent decline and government mismanagement of South Africa's gold mines is a warning call to those who are concerned about South Africa and the direction in which it is headed. Will it be heeded?

'Certainly black people in South Africa and Zimbabwe are justified in harboring a certain bitterness in their hearts over what occurred.'

As I cannot speak for Zimbabwe/Rhodesia, I must say that the choice of words used here is truly astonishing. This sets a dangerous precedent that the wrongs committed against the minority group in South Africa is somehow 'justified' due to something that ended almost 2 decades ago. This reeks of the stench and support of the victim mentality. What the author doesn't realize is that the black people are still acting out on this self-righteous 'bitterness in their hearts' against the whites as they did in the past, while the world looks the other way. It also shows the ignorance of the author on the political structures and issues in South Africa as more blacks (ANC/IFP estimated 20 000 dead) killed each other and their own during this time than the government.
I would also just like to remind the author that the ANC and its high ranking members were classified as a communist terrorist group by various western countries and that they received training and support from the USSR, China and Cuba. And that they used terror and assassinations tactics.
Some of the evidence used against Mandela during the Rivonia Trial were weapons cashes of a large number of firearms, mines and RPGs and a book written in his hand writing 'How to be a Good Communist'. So the great states man who fought for democracy is a communist. Communism, like in many other countries at the time, was illegal. He also did not denounce or refrain from using violence. An example of this can be seen in the horrors of the Church Street bombing where civilians were targeted and not government. And another example of the joke of him being a Nobel Peace price winner. Regardless of his murderous intent he was still given political prisoner status even though more than enough evidence existed for his execution.
I would also like to remind the author that it was the decision of the WHITES of South Africa to abolish apartheid. This was done trough a referendum, yet this is conveniently omitted by the media. Nowhere in history has a minority in political power freely given it away knowing full well that in a democratic system they will have no meaningful impact. This says a lot about the true character of the 'bad and oppressive whites' of South Africa who must subconsciously 'accept' that the discrimination now inflicted on them is 'justified'. Regardless of the past horrors inflicted on them as well as the current ones.

Thus the opening sentence quoted is nothing more than a logical fallacy as it tries to appeal to the emotion of pity to a group who got away with murder, thanks to the stories NOT covered by the media.

Daily Bell : "Interesting points ... "

Yes they are rather... .. And the world is getting tired of these Jesuit Nazi games that disrupt countries and more often than not lead to genocide and economic meltdown, except of couse for those who engineer the whole catastrophe and steal the resources of other nations.

Robert Mugabe by the way has in turn been very influenced by one... LaRouche... .

... .. and what is more Mugabe has vested interests in the mines in the Congo as well as money made from Blood Diamonds in his own country. Perhpas someone should find out who his "handler"is? And get to the root of the problem. And talking of the Congo, it appears that Christine LaGarde is the new sherrif in town, besides the LaGarde list exposing economic terrorists that have contributed towards the destruction of the Greek economy, and restoring the Leo Wanta funds to the US Treasury, she has also turned her attention to the Congo. If as you say "It will likely end in tears, death, destruction and blood. We hope we are wrong. "

I will tell you how it will happen. It will happen with covert agents trained and indoctrinated by such organizations as the CIA, who will "create" a blood revolution and will have their own "puppet"already trained to put into a fascist state.

However, know this, we have all read "Confessions of an Economic Hitman," wel all know AlQueada, the Muslim Brotherhood, MIK and other fanatical groups are in fact CIA trained operatives, and we are all watching with interest the Egyptian people rejecting the current leadership as they know it is a Western Controlled group to set up yet another fascist state.

We are also watching the same game plan being played out by Afrikom in North Africa . And what is more, we are all fully aware of the plans of Mitt Romney and his Bain Capital along with his Israeli partners. If we have any "problem"at all regarding "tears, death, destruction and blood," it will be engineered from outside the country and not from within it. And I quote:

BAIN and AFRICAN TERROR

Blood Diamonds

There is an African end of this story. A CIA agent named 'Tony,' working South Africa, part of a team of agents there, all Mormons, contacted a professional associates of mine. (an intelligence agency director)

South Africa is my 'turf' also.

'Tony' as he called himself was working with a US law firm and was tasked with investing $120 billion in drug profits, maybe from Afghanistan, in South Africa. He told our representatives he was looking for mining properties worth more than $200 million each.

'Tony' met, not just with us, but with dozens of other groups in South Africa. Tony is, what we call in the spy business, 'burned.' Tony's group works with UNITA, a terrorist organization, sometimes supported by North Korea, Israel, the US and China. The former Angolan revolutionary organization is now 'for hire,' and 'terrorism on demand' with a reach that covers a dozen nations.

Their task, as South African intelligence indicates, is to buy up South Africa and take over the rest of Southern Africa through running terrorist groups out of the DRC or Democratic Republic of the Congo. On their list is Kenya and other nations.

Their method of operation is to finance themselves with blood diamonds, sent through agents to Tel Aviv, money to be handled by Bain Capital/Romney, then to China where arms are purchased and shipped to terrorists in Africa, 'Al Qaeda, Boko Harum and UNITA.

The details of the deal were set up a month ago. Currently, UNITA is having difficulty coming up with their end, the $1.2 billion a year in diamonds they promised.

On the Israeli end, Romney, while traveling there with Las Vegas casino boss, Sheldon Adelson, met with diamond traders at what was supposed to be a/an (illegal) fundraiser.

It was something else, putting together one link in the diamonds, terrorism, money, narcotics trade which, working with Bain, the Bush family, Mormon groups in the CIA and the Mossad, meant to take over all of Africa.

Dear Daily Bell:

I am reminded of a Shakespeare quote: "The lady doth protest too much, methinks." Clearly, the elite may have their memes and the Daily Bell has its memes, but as it relates to genocide of white South Africans in South Africa you two are on the same page. In short, your meme is nothing to see move along, they had it coming to them; and if pressed, deny, deny, deny. Again, you wrote: "Certainly black people in South Africa and Zimbabwe are justified in harboring a certain bitterness in their hearts over what occurred."

You write, "In short, your meme is nothing to see move along, they had it coming to them ..."

You see? People don't read anymore. It is a lost art. We clearly stated the following which entirely contradicts your strange thesis:

"This is, in fact, the larger story of South Africa and Zimbabwe. As blacks have finally overcome some of the horrors of apartheid, their governments have focused cruelly on socialism and the expansion of quasi-authoritarian rule. They have overpromised and under-delivered."

WTF? seriously have you people at DB lost your frakking minds???

Where have you been for the last 20 years since Apartheid ended in S.A.?

S.A. under "indigenous" rule has sunk into a festering Sh1thole from which it will never recover.

You've never heard of "Black Economic Empowerment"?

FYI, That's Government sanctioned Stealing of Businesses & Corporations where half of YOUR Business is given to an unqualified, Uneducated Indigenous Person, it is a forced redistribution of wealth, assets, jobs & opportunities along racial lines, it is quite simply "affirmative action" gone mad, whites are often excluded from Employment opportunities because all others have preferential treatment based on skin colour, that's the cause of S.A.s brain drain.

Honest to God, how do you think Low & Middle class families in S.A. have been surviving the past 20 years?, I'll tell you, by putting their underage daughters out on the streets to work as Prostitutes.

BTW S.A has been listed as at Stage 6 "Preperation" on the 8 Stages of Genocide scale. ( Although I suppose you think that too is just an Elite "meme")

Yes I am angry, I'm angry because it has taken this long for the DB to acknowledge the problem in S.A. & I'm especially angry that it has taken the issue of GOLD production for you to focus on it not the Murders of over 3000 White Farmers or the daily pack rapes of White Women & Girls.

Your love of Gold & the complete disregard for any other preperations will be the death of the lot of you.

No one reading this article in an unbiased manner could construe it as defense of the current regime or in any way a positive commentary about the state of South Africa. Sorry it was not strong enough for you.

What do we think? Probably that South Africa is doomed - as it is now anyway - with a balance of power between blacks and whites, industry and welfare. That balance is probably not going to last. Nor did it Zimbabwe.

It will likely end in tears, death, destruction and blood. We hope we are wrong.

Posted by abbi on 12/08/12 03:51 AM

This article is clearly written from the bias of the Afrikaaner point of view. Here are a few points:
1. Gold is not the only resource that South Africa has, and the economy is not soley reliant on Gold.
2. Afrikaaner Nationalism, and the Apartheid system that resulted from it, was a far cry from any system instituted by the British. It is deeply rooted in Nazi Nationalist Socialism. Humaitarian crimes committed by the Apartheid regime: disenfranchisement, forced removals, detention without trial and the murder of people by those in authoritarian power. A good reference is Anje Kroges "Country Of My Skull,"her recording of the Truth and Reconciliation commission is a total expose on an evil system that has been a scourge of the country's entire history.
3. Unlike Zimbabwe's ZANU PF, the ANC is comprised of a group of people from all tribes and races, and with the absolute flood of refugees from Zimbabwe into South Africa, South Africans of all races are fully aware of the crimes committed by Robert Mugabe and the United Nations inability to bring an end to it. They have been far too busy overthrowing Libya and now Syria to pay much attention to the genocide that has gone on in this region, as well as the Congo. Blood diamonds come to mind.
4. Where the ANC has failed, is in taking the National Socialist model, inherited from the Nats. Job creation has been through government employent and through Corporate Investment, while very little attention has been paid to small business development and building up the Middle Class. What is more most of this "Offshore Corporate Investment"has not exactly been honest, and has been designed to turn South Africans into a Debt Driven society. The Arms Deal Scandal involving Sweden and BAE; Monsanto's Genetically modified Maize and the patenting of seeds restricting farmers from producing their own seed from their own harvest for the next season, resulting in the increase in the cost of foods and adds to hunger rather than relieving it, to say nothing of the fact that other countires are banning it; the E Toll Scandal involving Pienaar (a boer) and Austrian company, which is financial rape of the South African motorist; ABASA Bank and it's connection with Barclays Libor Scandal, which instead of contributing to develpment of the country has instead been drained to service Barclays in the UK.
The ANC is not the problem, neither is the Gold. The problem is corrupt bankers and corporations with little regard for the country and it's people, lining their own pockets and turning the country into a Debt society like Greece. The best decision South Africa has made is to join BRICs, and the country's future is far brighter than some people would like to believe.
Here are a few links that you might find informative:
The introduction of GMOs into South Africa has profoundly transformed the country's seed sector - South Africa's domestic maize seed market is now dominated by three companies. A proposed merger between DuPont's Pioneer Hi-Bred and South African seed company, Pannar, could very soon reduce the ownership to just two - Monsanto and DuPont. Both of these companies are currently in the National Competition Commission's spot lights. ACB researcher, Mr. Gareth Jones, claims that, "it is these multinational seed companies, together with big agri-business, who are the real beneficiaries of GM seeds. For farmers, the cost of seed as a proportion of production costs has doubled in the last 5 years, while a 5kg bag of maize meal is today 84% more expensive than it was in 2008. Fourteen years of GMOs have not brought down food prices or brought relief to some 20% of the population still without adequate access to food". "

Are there any successful countries or cities built or run by blacks? It doesn't matter if the political entity is in Africa, Central America (e.g., Haiti) or the United States of America (e.g., Detroit). The outcome is always the same. The solution for whites is separation while you still have enough people to create a secure homeland in South Africa.

"where exactly did we say that Rhodesia 'exercised' apartheid"

You conflated the two countries (Rhodesia and South Africa), and thus it was implied that both are culpable I trying to avoid their current fates ('exercising apartheid' being part of that). Would it be so hard to admit that each country, in its own way, was correct about what would happen when blacks took over?

Also, this ridiculous comment about white South Africans deserving their deaths is a bit much: 'Certainly black people in South Africa and Zimbabwe are justified in harboring a certain bitterness in their hearts over what occurred.' Correct me if I am wrong, but I remember that in South Africa's case during Apartheid blacks from neighboring black run countries migrated in mass to white ruled South Africa and out of black run places.

Minimally, how could blacks migrating to South Africa during Apartheid be 'justified in harboring a certain bitterness in their hearts' when they moved there knowing who ran things? Migration patterns alone during Apartheid clearly show that blacks preferred Apartheid South Africa to black run South Africa. It seems to me that looking back Apartheid was well justified not just by the fears of whites but by the actions of most blacks as well.

Are you guys sure you are not part of your own self-described 'directed history' when discussing cultural Marxist topics like the evils of Apartheid and white South Africans vs. the poor black devils that are now killing people just because of the color of their skin, with tacit government backing no less?

"Also, this ridiculous comment about white South Africans deserving their deaths is a bit much."

What?

We said blacks are justified in harboring a certain bitterness. That is a far cry from South Africans "deserving their deaths."

This is much the same as Southerners in the US harboring a certain bitterness over the depredations of Lincoln's generals.

It happens, culturally speaking. We won't deny the obvious. You go ahead ...

Daily Bell's sarcastic answer is:

"Interesting. And where exactly did we say that Rhodesia "exercised" apartheid.

You sure you have your facts right?"

Well DB, I suggest you reread what I said more carefully. I never claimed that DB used the word 'exercised', as in 'Rhodesia exercised Apartheid', but you very strongly implied it both in your opening paragraph: "…once apartheid died, the future became bright in both Zimbabwe and South Africa."

and you reinforce the impression, both in the general context of your remarks and three paragraphs further down with: …"Certainly black people in South Africa and Zimbabwe are justified in harboring a certain bitterness in their hearts over what occurred."

Yes, I got my facts right, but I may concede that you did not get your facts actually 'wrong'; however some were misleading enough to be so.

Not up to DB's usual standard!

Posted by Morpheustically Speaking on 12/07/12 07:38 AM

I'm a frequent reader on your site and enjoy your articles. And I am South African.

This article is unfortunately rather shallowly researched an misleading, and seems to have accepted anecdotal evidence from a very vocal minority of white South Africans. I understand why this minority is pissed off, but unfortunately they also talk a lot of nonsense and tend to pain images of the country that fit their particular biases.

For a start there is not imminent uptake of poor/lower-class white South Africans pending in Southern African countries. Poor whites have been a problem in South Africa from before the advent of Apartheid, and were one of the justifications for the creation of Grand Apartheid. They were protected by government largesse for decades and aren't anymore, and are not farmers.

South Africa's skilled farmers appear to have been targeted for attacks, and many are leaving the country to pursue opportunities elsewhere. However, they are not lower class by any definition.

Secondly, gold is no long the foundation of the South African economy and the entire mining sector currently contributes less than 10% of GDP. This is a fact lost on hardline communists and right wing radicals alike. Our economy has diversified and there is a huge amount of white middle class entrepreneurship as well as an extremely strong IT and consulting sector. Our reliance on gold was always problematic, and it's a good thing that it is no longer so, particularly with the threat of mine nationalisation.

South Africa is not going to pot in quite the same way as Zimbabwe. The Western Cape for example is run by the opposition party and is undergoing massive investement in infrastructure upgrades and development. The country's overall economic growth was over 3% in 2011, and people at the lower end of the food chain benefit from some very liberalised markets, making it easy for entrepreneurs to set up and run small businesses (which has attracted huge numbers of immigrants who are making a good go of things in this environment). Add to this the 3 million or so black people who have joined the middle class and you have a situation quite different from what has ever existed in a previous African country.

The ruling party is a problem, but the threat of it breaking into factions would be a blessing for this country, as the established opposition would probably claim several more provinces and chip off more of the ANC's majority. In recent month's the most vocal sh*t stirrer has been all but gagged by the ANC, ending several years of hate speech against white citizens.

I can't summarise the past 5 years of South African history in one comment, but suffice it to say the above article is both overly simplistic and inaccurate, and seems to pander to the opinions of a group of people who for some reason regarded our rule by a bunch of strong-state collectivist central planners as a golden era, and are hard to take seriously.

Rhodesia follows the same pattern of destabilisation used today, in fact the modern counter terrorism was first developed in Rhodesia. From the illegal immigration of the Bantu tribes, to the terrorism bombing. Rhodesia won the war, but lost the psychological mind war in the social and political realm.

The fact Blacks had a longer life expectancy under white rule, and that the coloureds still form a political voting bloc with the whites that remain in south Africa, says a lot more to me then the propaganda of the elite.

You got some of your facts seriously wrong. Rhodesia NEVER exercised apartheid. It DID recognise the right of races not to mix if they chose, so it never coerced the mixing of the races. For instance, the Government itself did not discriminate except on merit. When Rosa Parks was thrown off a bus in 1950s America for sitting in the wrong part of a segregated bus, Rhodesians already had mixed race buses. Where there was discrimination it tended to be to protect the tribes people, i.e. Whites could not own land in Tribal Trust areas. There was never a restriction to Blacks owning land in white area. The Rhodesian government tried mightily to create a large Black Middle Class. In the early 1960s over 40% of the the budget was devoted to black education. On top of that there were extensive mission and private funds poured into bringing tribesmen into the modern world. Even Rhodesia's enemies, including the U.N. reluctantly admitted and recognised that country had the highest African prosperity on the continent, the healthiest by far, the best educated by far, on the continent. Mugabe and other nationalist thugs NEVER had more than 3% support amongst the black population. Almost all discontent was artificially propagated by Western Elites who, despite their rhetoric, only wanted failed nations in Africa. We are told, correctly, that whites had around 70% of the best land in Rhodesia. The propagandists fail to tell us why that happened without any bloodshed or complaint.

Firstly it needs to be understood that Blacks arrived in that part of Africa in three waves only a very short time before the whites. The first wave consisting of the Shona peoples, pushed out the original inhabitants, the Bushmen in the first wave, about 150 years earlier. The second wave, the Shangaan, arrived 40 years before the whites and pushed the Shona out of much of the Southern half, The third wave, the Matabele, arrived 20 years before the whites, took much of the South East from the Shangaan and the Shona, and became the dominant tribe militarily but not in numbers. So understand that the Whites never came in displacing inhabitants with long records of habitation. ALL of them were quite recent immigrants and only the Bushman could be said to be the original inhabitants. The Whites had had no part of pushing them out.

When the whites arrived, they found the semi nomadic Blacks settled on light sandy soils, because they sowed their sorghum and similar crops using fire hardened sticks. These easily worked soils were productive enough for their subsistence farming. The deep rich soils that the whites coveted were too difficult to work. The whites brought iron ploughs, and found vast areas of effectively vacant land. They settled it and largely left the tribes in their original locations. There were two minor 'rebellions' which, by modern standards, or the standard of the American Indian wars, could be described as very small scuffles.

Of course the Whites dominated the scene for a while. They came into a land whose early iron age people were not even familiar with the wheel. It takes time to get a whole culture up to speed. The whites generally recognised that it was in everyones interest to gently merge the cultures. The claim that Ian Smith said Africans would not 'govern the country for 1,000 years', is a flat out lie and totally out of character for the man. Blacks constituted 83% of the Rhodesian Army and police and were tremendously loyal. When the British Prime Minister asked his generals about the possibility of using force to topple the Rhodesian Government, they asked him how he would explain to the world that British troops were fighting fiercely determined black people supposedly to liberate them from whites. He dropped the idea of open military action in favour of backing covert terrorism, while tut tutting about it.

If Rhodesia had been left alone it would have rapidly become a massively successful country. That is no part of the plans of Western elites.

The more things change the more they stay the same!

Interesting. And where exactly did we say that Rhodesia "exercised" apartheid.

You sure you have your facts right?

I'm afraid it's not that simple. Decades of pain and suffering and mental abuse and anguish will take many many decades to go away. What was done to the South African Natives was deplorable and dispicable so why wouldn't they hate whites? Perhaps out of the ashes they can rise again, alone but with respect.
