The Problem with Press TV

By Staff Report

An analyst says the international banking cartel headed by private central banks such as the European Central Bank and the Federal Reserve Bank are advancing their imperial agenda and trying to 'shackle people into debt slavery.' Press TV has conducted an interview with Chris Dorsey, economic and political commentator in Richmond to further discuss the issue. – Press TV

Dominant Social Theme: Don't watch Press TV or listen to its propaganda.

Free-Market Analysis: Iran's Press TV is having a rough go of it and when we tuned in on this video it had exactly zero views. RT, the Russian news network, has had a distinctly different experience. It is one of the very largest TV networks in the world.

The theme enunciated above is actually a subdominant social theme because it is not broad enough to be a purely dominant one. A dominant social theme would be "don't listen to propaganda from developing countries regarding bankers and the general, Western economic situation."

The powers-that-be are focused on providing their own narrative and this is one of the reasons the Internet has proven troublesome to them. With a vast alternative media available, the power elite has difficulty controlling its message.

Iran is currently a target of this elite's Money Power because of Press TV, in large part. An unapologetically anti-Western network, Press TV has run into trouble with viewers of late. It's been basically banned in both Britain and the United States and this interview provides us with some reasons for the silencing.

Chris Dorsey, the interviewee, doesn't hesitate to place blame for the West's increasingly chaotic and difficult economic situation on austerity sponsored by banking interests led by the Bank for International Settlements.

He points out that austerity is not an appropriate way to deal with economic downturns in a monopoly fiat money environment.

He's likely correct about this. In a normal environment featuring gold, silver and monetary competition, the economy would have righted itself long ago. But Money Power will have none of it. Banking interests have consistently bailed out failing firms and thus retarded any recovery that could have taken place after the economic crisis of 2007-2008.

At the same time, the powers-that-be have sponsored austerity around the world, a kind of internationalizing of the IMF recipe for higher taxes and lower government benefits.

This argument is seen in stark terms: Either governments print money, thus fueling price inflation or they practice "austerity." However, there is a third way ... via a free-market money system that allows large, bankrupt financial firms to fail and mitigates the general deformation of the modern economic scene.

Dorsey gets at a good bit of this, generally, in his interview with Press TV. But searching for him on the Internet yields some fairly incendiary language that he avoided using during his interview.

The problem that Dorsey has – and it is one that Press TV shares – is his determination to indict Israel, Jews and "Zionists" for what is taking place when it comes to bankster influence.

In fact, there is a system at work and it could be operated by anybody – and its participants at this point are very broadly situated. Press TV's rhetoric has helped poison the proverbial well, and that's too bad because truth-telling of any sort is in short supply these days.

For various reasons, Press TV looks like an also-ran when it comes to alternative news networks. Barred from general dissemination, it will have to make do with Internet placements, in our view.

Conclusion: If it moderates its narrative slightly and focuses more on the world and less on Israel, Press TV might garner a large 'Net audience – at least in the West – that would provide an alternative to its current distribution platform.

Published on Feb 20, 2013 Egypt's hardline Islamists, including members of the ruling Muslim Brotherhood party, have gathered in Cairo for a rally calling for peace. That's after three weeks of protests against the government, which started on the second anniversary of the revolution that toppled Mubarak.

PRESS TV is just the mouthpiece for the Iranian government, no different to the mainstream media organisations in the 'west'.

It's somewhat hypocritical lambasting an "international banking cartel headed by private central banks such as the European Central Bank and the Federal Reserve Bank" when the Iranian government keeps Iranians enslaved to its own worthless credit, the Rial.

I've commented as much on their website. Needless to say, the comments are not published.

Hi DB,

In defence of Dorsey - or any truth-teller - to be a real truth teller you have to tell it like you see it, and if that happens to be (in his opinion) that Israel and Zionists are in a large part behind all this, then he should be congratulated for not being afraid to say so for fear of his message being ignored. At least he is getting his version of the truth out there.

Regards

A Zionist is defined as someone who is in favor of a Jewish homeland. It thus seems to us that he starts with an inaccuracy and proceeds to a generalization.
