SPOiLER - How a Third Political Party Could Win

By Staff Report

Now viewable online – exclusively via the Foundation for the Advancement of Free-Market Thinking (FAFMT) and the TheDailyBell.com.

James Jaeger and Matrixx Productions latest film, SPOiLER, is a feature-length documentary that explores how a third political party could win the presidential election of 2012 or 2016 with four key issues.

SPOiLER features Freedom Force founder, G. Edward Griffin (author of The Creature from Jekyll Island), Peter A. Lillback, author of George Washington's Sacred Fire, John McManus, president of the John Birch Society, Pat Buchanan, well-known author and political analyst, and Edwin Vieira, constitutional attorney from Harvard, (author of Pieces of Eight). Watch a 5-minute clip of all of them here.

Inspired by strategy set forth in Nelson Hultberg's new book, The Conservative Revolution, SPOiLER delves into the philosophic background that has saturated the US the past 97 years and compares it with the first 127 years of our nation's history, what could be called the Libertarian-Conservative Era.

Sorry, I do not have time to watch a one-hour movie that did not grab me in the first five minutes.

  Posted by David_Robertson on 09/18/11 09:51 AM

The video is OK and lays down a clear road map although the production values are not up to the standard of the movie industry. This is no doubt a result of budget constraints but it does limit the audience and I question whether it will reach out much beyond the existing liberty movement.

On this issue it is my understanding that the Campaign for Liberty has been working since 2008 to make inroads into the wider population and the support for Ron Paul thus far is perhaps a testimony to their efforts. Certainly the Tea Party movement grew out of this Campaign. They have also been working to penetrate the Republican Party and have been training people to take over the various committees I believe at the precinct level. This is where the action is if a vote is going to be won. Have the makers of this video been in touch with this organisation? Click to view link

On the tax issue and the concern about the 16th. Amendment there is the proposal for a Fair Tax (a Federal Sales tax) that has been well researched and could be quickly implemented. Click to view link

This has a number of benefits not least of which is that it has a high degree of support in both parties. This is designed to replace the income tax after which the 16th. Amendment could be repealed. It can be integrated with state sales taxes and in time the Federal component could be phased out as the administrative machinery at the Federal level is dismantled to conform to the Constitution.

Personally I believe that closing down the Empire is one thing that could be done quickly since the President is also the Commander in Chief of the military. To the best of my knowledge the movement for the restoration of the original Republic and the Constitution for the united States, which was suspended in 1860 and replaced in 1871 but is still in existence, was initiated by senior members of the United States military. Click to view link

This Republic has been entirely re-inhabited throughout the States and I believe the original Constitution is now in a position where it could be re-instituted and become the actual law of the land. This I believe would annul any amendment made to the Constitution after either 1860 or 1871. It would also invalidate all executive orders issued since then and these would no longer be available to the President absent a general state of emergency. This would end the welfare state at a stroke and any retention of the various entitlement programmes would be at the discretion of the People, the Congress and the States. Of course any promises already made would have to be kept or renegotiated.

Perhaps this organisation could also be helpful in developing a strategy to restore the Republic not only de jure which has been achieved but also de facto.

I am not an American but I do agree with this sentiment. However what if Ron Paul does not win the nomination? Should there be a back up plan? Would he run for a third party at least to give his supporters someone to vote for on election day?

As to the end the wars and end the Fed, yes these are on the suggested platform but in a more muted way that will not have people seeing them as dangerous. As was mooted in the video the introduction of a US dollar issued by the Treasury could compete with the Fed dollar without legal tender status being accorded to either until the competition in the market decides which one should survive. The Fed is really the world's central bank so closing it down may be somewhat more difficult than you imagine. To put it on a leash, audit it and introduce competition is a good first step.

ELIAS WROTE:
To Daily Bell and the elves: This movie hit me with waves of inspiration and encouragement, of appreciation and marvel. It is a superb new tool for liberty and justice. James Jaeger has tied together the concerted thrust of each of his previous films and has taken everything home to philosophy, which is found at the beginning of human mentality, drawn from the 'well of the uncreated'. Please accept my sincere and profound gratitude for helping make this important film possible.

James - Congratulations! After months of anticipation I am completely delighted by your best-to-date production. Your timing has been excellent. Every featured interview has been carefully polished like gemstones of wisdom, with Lillback, Vieira, Griffin, Baldwin, McManus, Hultberg, Buchanan, and Williams each furnishing a facet of this jewel. I am most impressed by the way you've integrated their interviews into a cohesive line of development which is now a foundation upon which a weary world may actually build a new philosophy of genuine freedom. Awesome accomplishment, James!

Nelson, I can't thank you enough for giving the world the "Hultberg Strategy" for a third party which can actually win. I hope you've got plenty of copies of your book! I think our list has about thirty thousand email addresses. I will be sending the links to this movie and to your book today and throughout this weekend.

Edwin, once again you've graced a worthy project with succinct and undiluted knowledge - please accept my sincere appreciation. Your voice has helped this new tool for liberty achieve the needed power of authenticity.

Chuck, it was great to visit with you last weekend in Kalispell. Thank you for making time to interview for this film. I will be working to boost viewership. I am sure your ministry will rejoice in making good use of this film.

Anthony, Diana, and the entire Foundation - well done! You have my grateful salute! You've made the world a bit better and have helped James deliver a very powerful tool for the advancement of free-market thinking. Thank you.

JAEGER WROTE:
Thanks for the kudos Elias. You are too kind. :)

James

Budwood, you comments are well-taken and I think there is growing agreement on what needs to be done. The problem is HOW to get some of these new visions out to wider audiences when the media is so consolidated and dominated by the power elite. Our answer is movies like SPOILER, books, lectures, and websites like this one at the Daily Bell.

Keep in mind: you do not have to reach everyone, just the opinion leaders. Marshmallow brains never won a philosophical battle or changed much.

Posted by James Jaeger on 09/17/11 07:25 PM

Your points are good Ohioralph, the challenge is how to accomplish them.

OHIORALPH WROTE:
... The most important issue should be ending the wars, closing all foreign bases and bringing all the troops home.

Your points are good Ohioralph, the challenge is how to accomplish them.

OHIORALPH WROTE:
... The most important issue should be ending the wars, closing all foreign bases and bringing all the troops home.

JAEGER WROTE:
At the end of SPOILER this is one of Nelson's 4 Pillars: a mind-our-own-business foreign policy. We agree, the emphasis should be on strong national defense, not being the policeman of the world.

OHIORALPH WROTE:
Next, no pussyfooting around with the Federal Reserve. None of this Milton Friedman expansion of fiat money by any arbitrary percentage. Competing currencies and auditing the Fed and then ending it.

JAEGER WROTE:
Easier said than done. Dealing with the Fed is a complex problem that will require the timely execution of a number of different strategies. Did you see the movie ALIEN? The Fed is the ALIEN. Do you remember how complex of a problem it was to remove the alien in ALIEN? Think ALIEN when you consider how to deal with the Fed. Watch SPOILER again. Read Nelson's book, THE CONSERVATIVE REVOLUTION, to get the details and rationale on the 4% auto expansion. Read Rothbard's book, WHAT THE GOVERNMENT HAS DONE TO OUR MONEY and his book on how to RETURN TO 100 PERCENT GOLD STANDARD.

OHIORALPH WROTE:
The War on Drugs must be ended as a first step toward an immigration policy.

JAEGER WROTE:
I agree. If we ended the War on Drugs and legalized drugs we would remove much of the incentive for illegal immigration. We would also have to let U.S. businesses know that it's not okay for them to hire people who have snuck into the U.S. when so many are waiting in line legally.

OHIORALPH WROTE:
A flat tax of 10% accepts the 16th Amendment and is no political reform at all.

JAEGER WROTE:
Technically you are correct. The problem is we have MASSIVE addiction to fiat money and government services that such fiat money and progressive income taxs have made possible during the PROGRESSIVE ERA, as discussed in SPOILER. You can't just pull a Libertarian Party "strategy" and go after these ideals cold turkey. Did you watch SPOILER? What are we talking about when we posit MARGINALIZATION? If you insist on imposing lofty ideals and philosophies -- that's great -- but unless you build a bridge to them, you will continue to get but 1% of the vote. SPOILER discusses this problem at length.

OHIORALPH WROTE:
We have a third party candidate in the Republican Party in 2012. His name is Ron Paul and the political party/movement is Liberty. Get behind it as it is unstoppable and the structure of the movement is in place.

JAEGER WROTE:
You know as well as I that the GOP is not going to nominate Ron Paul in the end. Watch SPOILER to find out why then read my article on how Ron Paul could drop out of the GOP, go Indy and take over the Tea Party. It's at Click to view link This article came as a result of a conversation I had with Edwin Vieira several months back, so any brilliant points in it are probably Edwin's.

Posted by James Jaeger on 09/17/11 06:46 PM

ONEBORN, if you watch SPOILER carefully you will notice that we are being as realistic as possible about the chances "that a person like that (Ron Paul) could actually be elected, let alone carry out their agenda, given the reality of what governments actually area."

You are absolutely correct, there is slim chance that a Ron Paul or a third party could get elected in 2012 -- or even 2014 given 1) the philosophical indoctrination from Rousseau, Comte and Marx; 2) the monopoly set up by the Commission on Presidential Debates, 3) the propaganda and obfuscation the mainstream media contributes to the political process and 4) the infiltration of the American government by globalist elites and oligarchies such as the CFR.

Given 1 - 4 above, the goals of SPOILER are to 1) Convey the long-term problem, 2) explicate the mistakes of MARGINALIZATION and CLONING and 3) set a primary goal of getting 15% of the vote so that an independent candidate can get onto the PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE STAGE like Ross Perot did in 1992. Let me repeat this as it never seems to get through: THE PRIMARY GOAL IS TO GET AN INDEPENDENT WITH A NEW VISION ON THE PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE STAGE.

The PRIMARY goal is NOT to get a THIRD PARTY into the White House immediately. That is the Nth GOAL. The primary goal is TO GET AN INDEPENDENT WITH A NEW VISION ON THE PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE STAGE. Why is this the PRIMARY GOAL? This is the primary goal because, until and unless you get THIS goal accomplished, HOW is the nation going to even KNOW what the PROBLEM is? The mainstream media isn't going to tell them. We sent out a press release to 8,000 people in the mainstream media about SPOILER and a THIRD PARTY and guess how many of them responded? LESS THAN 50! So, if citizens do NOT know what the real PROBLEMS are -- and they won't unless films like SPOILER get out by word-of mouth -- HOW are they going to move towards a remedy? They're not and you are on THE ROAD TO SERFDOM, as A.H. Hayek says in his important book.

Posted by James Jaeger on 09/17/11 06:18 PM

JD HOWARD WROTE: ... But it fails to mention (or maybe I didn't catch) that the U.S. Election laws are firmly skewed to a 2-party system.

JAEGER WROTE: You are absolutely correct JD, the system is set up to discourage third parties. This is mentioned several times in the film, for instance Dr. Viera says that since the political process is a government activity in the first place, it's easy for tem to establish rules and regulations that ensure a monopoly. Also Jack Rooney discusses this somewhat.

JD HOWARD WROTE:
However, an important question to ask: If our efforts are successful and the U.S. government is reigned back to its original Constitutional restraints, what is to keep it there?

JAEGER WROTE:
Ed Griffin answers this exact question towards the end of SPOILER. He also posits three fundamental principles that will remedy this problem and these three principles are superimposed on screen.

Posted by James Jaeger on 09/17/11 06:10 PM

Thanks for the kudos Robert -- greatly appreciated! SPOILER is a product of a team of professionals: not only the brilliant insights from our featured experts, but the studied analysis provided by Nelson Hultberg, the producers, Foundation and donors that funded the film, and the crews and technical wizards that pulled it all together.

Posted by James Jaeger on 09/17/11 06:00 PM

Excellent points Dave.

I have always felt that if the entire U.S. Government and/or the Federal Reserve System caved in ... so what. All Americans would need to do is pull out their gold/guns to continue commerce/protect themselves and convene a Constitutional Convention to re-instate the U.S. Constitution. With a political re-boot of the Supreme Law of the Land, the previous rough government would be GONE and the "laws" it illegally enacted by executive order, judicial decree and via NON-person special interests (i.e., corporations) would be null and void.

It would be a happy time, for, as G. Edward Griffin says in SPOILER, we could then move FORWARD to version 1.2 of the U.S. Constitution -- having created the greatest beta version of a Constitution the world has ever known. -- James

Posted by James Jaeger on 09/17/11 05:28 PM

To GWB:

P.S. Attempting to "take over" the Republican party is foolish. If you got what we're saying in SPOILER, you will know why this is foolish: the Republican Party is dominated by the Council on Foreign Relations. So HOW are you going to "take it over?" How is the TEA party going to "take it over"? They're NOT.

Posted by James Jaeger on 09/17/11 05:25 PM

GWB, I respectfully submit to you that you have missed the entire POINT of the film. The point of SPOILER is that THE GOVERNMENT IS TOO BIG. BOTH parties are growing it. Did you see the film? Did you note the discussion of THE REAL POLITICAL SPECTRUM? I suggest you re-watch the film and realize that it's NOT about the COCK fight between the Dems and the GOP or the Left and the Right, or between Liberals and Conservative -- this is all window dressing and you seem to be ensnared in it. The issue is: we currently only have one (1) political party in America: the Big-government DemoPublican Party. We need a SECOND political party: a Small-government party, i.e., a party that follows the INTENT of the U.S. Consititution.

'scuse me, but where did I say anything about not acting? Regards, onebornfree

Posted by Dave Jr on 09/16/11 05:48 PM

Thinking it can be corrected by not acting IS pure fantasy. Sit back and enjoy the show. Maybe they will be lenient on you. Thanks alot.

Posted by budwood on 09/16/11 04:58 PM

Good documentary and valid points.

However, who but the people already very disgusted with the two major political parties will even consider spending an hour and a half on this documentary? You may have heard of the "marshmallow test" given to children. Most everyone has high time preferences (I want it now), so the marshmallows don't last very long. That's what happens with government treasuries (and governments' abilities to borrow).

Seems to me that the comments (below) by Ralph Ohlo are fully realistic as differentiated from the video. Any opposing philosophy (to the current centralized government excesses) needs to address war and overseas adventures, needs to remove the 16th amendment, and fully explain why taking from people who produce things won't get the non-producers things in the long term. Even the Chinese want to get returns.

No, a different "third party" will be possible only after it become obvious that our essentially one-party welfare/warfare state is a Nazi country or a Communist country, etc., that has been put together by collectivists, upon the ashes of a USA that provided good lives before those collectivists wanted more and more power.

Maybe a "comic book" type format would do the job. Maybe if a bag of marshmallows was included?

Posted by ohioralph on 09/16/11 12:58 PM

I was very disappointed with this attempt for political change via a third party. The most important issue should be ending the wars, closing all foreign bases and bringing all the troops home. In my opinion, this is pure fantasy. The best thing about Ron Paul is his entertainment value: he gives the GOP and the Democrats conniption fits- it's pure fun to sit back and enjoy the lies, obfuscations, smears etc. etc. on a daily basis, but to imagine that a person like that could actually be elected, let alone carry out their agenda, given the reality of what governments actually are:

is dangerously delusional in my humble opinion.

Excellent documentary! Even better than I expected. But it fails to mention (or maybe I didn't catch) that the U.S. Election laws are firmly skewed to a 2-party system. Placing 3rd parties and candidates on ballots & keeping them there is very expensive and labor intensive. The futile Libertarian Party experience of the past 40 years has taught us to work within a major party -- today Ron Paul & the GOP; perhaps someday within the Democrat Party.

However, an important question to ask: If our efforts are successful and the U.S. government is reigned back to its original Constitutional restraints, what is to keep it there? It got corrupted before, so why not again? Is a constitutional republic political model inherently flawed if special interests inevitably manipulate it and the electorate can vote away each citizen's "inalienable" rights? My doubts take me to a deeper perspective: the ideas of Hans-Hermann Hoppe, the moral governance of a contract-based society and evolving beyond a political republic model altogether.
