Porter Stansberry Wants a Gold Standard

Porter Stansberry: "Enough Already, Let's Return to the Gold Standard!" ... The money supply increases naturally by exactly the amount of increases in productivity in a healthy economy, notes Stansberry & Associates Investment Research Founder Porter Stansberry. He doesn't have to point out that the economy isn't healthy, nor that the money supply expands every time the printing presses run to bail out a failing business and bring on a new iteration of quantitative easing. The solution is a simple (albeit not necessarily easy) one, Porter tells us in this exclusive Gold Report interview: Return to the gold standard. That will happen, he says, when the people say, "Enough!" – Gold Report via RightSideNews

Dominant Social Theme: What's a gold standard?

Free-Market Analysis: Porter Stansberry is a well known analyst, and we're glad to see him speaking out on this issue. We think in the future there will be more and more voices. Of course, there are plenty of different types of gold standards, too, but it is encouraging to see calls for ANY kind of gold standard, as fiat money delinked from an underlying commodity is a dangerous and even disastrous currency evolution. The kind of gold standard WE favor is one that evolves spontaneously, probably after economic chaos. In this sort of evolution, people simply begin to use gold (and silver) again in order to pay their bills and debts.

There are plenty of other kinds of gold standards – including those that are managed by the government. Many suggestions for gold standards actually involve central banks as well. But in a REAL gold standard, gold and silver are not manipulated by larger powers but find their value based on market demand. What is the point of having a metals standard, after all, if it merely salvages the status quo? We know this is likely not a practical fix for our current money woes, but it is nonetheless (theoretically anyway) a preferable one.

Co-Chair Calls for a 9/11 Do-Over

Co-Chair of the Congressional Inquiry Into 9/11 – and Former Head of the Senate Intelligence Committee – Calls for a New 9/11 Investigation ... The Co-Chair of the Congressional Inquiry into 9/11 and former Head of the Senate Intelligence Committee, Bob Graham, previously stated that an FBI informant had hosted and rented a room to two hijackers in 2000 and that, when the Inquiry sought to interview the informant, the FBI refused outright, and then hid him in an unknown location, and that a high-level FBI official stated these blocking maneuvers were undertaken under orders from the White House (confirmed here). Today, Graham called for a new 9/11 investigation. – Washington's Blog Sept 13, 2011

Dominant Social Theme: Too many things are fishy. It's only been ten years. Let's reopen this mess.

Free-Market Analysis: Ten years later, we hear Bob Graham asking for a new investigation into 9/11. This tells us two things. One, the powers-that-be have not been able to put to rest the surging fury of the alternative media surrounding the issue. Two, the people in Washington DC responsible for the current official story cannot shed their responsibility fast enough.

There was considerable puzzlement, for instance, when Rutger's Dean John Farmer wrote and published his book in 2009 entitled The Ground Truth: The Untold Story of America Under Attack on 9/11. The book, as a Rutger's review delicately puts it, "shows a disturbing disconnect between what those in charge of the country's security knew and what was actually happening on the ground and in the skies."

Of course, Dean Farmer was one of the principal authors of the 9/11 Commission Report. "The Commission, believ[ed] that civilian and military officials had not been completely forthright in their information to Congress, the media, and the Commission itself about significant aspects of 9/11." In other words, we learn from Dean Farmer, that many the Commission interviewed lied about 9/11 and their various roles in it.

Farmer, we decided a while ago, wrote the book not out of any sense of concern over 9/11 but because the controversy over the Commission's conclusions had not died down. These are clever men. If they are practicing limited hangouts now, it is because they have concluded the coverup is unraveling and sooner or later they will be called to account.

Whatever happened on 9/11 has not yet been fully explained; but one only had to scan the Internet to see a deluge of articles that went far beyond the official, scripted story. The pressure to re-examine what occurred continues to build because the official story is riddled with obvious errors. Based on Graham's statement and others, we would think sooner or later some sort of formal re-evaluation may be considered. If it doesn't take place in Washington, perhaps it will take place elsewhere.

Change Ourselves to Change Gov?

The fault lies not within our GOP leaders but within ourselves ... Like most Americans, I think highly of few politicians, particularly those who aspire to be president. With few exceptions, they are willing to say and do whatever seems necessary to win over partisan voters and, if they are fortunate enough to be nominated, to attract that vital and ideologically promiscuous group known as "independents" as well. – Michele Bachmann, Washington Post

Dominant Social Theme: If you are upset over what is going on in the US, look in the mirror.

Free-Market Analysis: The issue of who is responsible for the degradation of the US continues to be a controversial one. On the one side are those who believe in a kind of implacable conspiracy, or at least in the destructive inefficiency of powerful men and institutions. On the other side are those who believe that democracy is fungible and that if people would take human action and accept personal responsibility to make things right, then many of the problems that bedevil Western societies would fade away.

It seems to us entirely feasible that a small group of impossible wealthy banking families (that control central banking around the world) are participating in what might be called "directed history" – creating wars and economic crises that inevitably move the world closer to global governance. But the counter-argument is that whether or not such a conspiracy exists, people need to take control of their own lives and of the society in which they find themselves.

At some point, we would tend to agree that people DO need to assert more control over their lives and the way that they and others are living. Unfortunately, we note that most people only tend to act in dramatic ways when they have no other options. It would be preferable if people would anticipate the end-game they apparently face and try to make pro-active adjustments.

On the other hand, the system itself is formidable and seems, sometimes, impervious to change. It is not, though. In fact, we would argue that sooner or later, a crisis will occur – a big one. When changes come, we hope they will be positive and result in freedom and more human action, not less.

"In this sort of evolution, people simply begin to use gold (and silver) again in order to pay their bills and debts."

If it ever came to this, the world economy would enter a depression from which there will not be an escape for centuries.

There is only one gold standard. To think that there are a number of gold standards makes no sense. It's like saying that there are a number of metric standards.

Furthermore, to equate the "gold standard" with the amount of gold required to be currency, is like saying that there are not enough metric sticks to have a proper metric system.

Reply from The Daily Bell

Mr. Bischoff! Gold standards can be applied innumerable ways. As they have been. To maintain there is only "one" is historically incorrect.

John, you have posted some excellent pieces, but this is your best ever!

I traveled all day yesterday ending up at our little place in S. Alabama, L.A. as it is called down here (for Lower Alabama). Got up this morning and first thing read your post.

Just absolutely brilliant and spot on!

Thanks much for this and all your posts. We can all learn a lot from you.

I took it as the independents will vote republican one time and democrat another based on ideology instead of being "loyal" to one party. Lack of party loyalty = promiscuous?

I'm trying to figure out what bachmann means by ideologically promiscuous independent voters? anyone?

I like what you are saying. Monopoly, including central banking, is not natural and can only exist by providing unchallengeable extraordinary value, or by coercion. Most things are challengeable.

Right. They forgot to add the "magic bullet", to explain what "magic airplanes" failed to explain.

We are part of the problem. We allowed a president into office with a communist background.very little could have been done on his background. As for homes, How many people took out loans on homes they knew they couldn't afford. Same for car loans and running up credit card bills almost impossible to repay. School loans? Like congress, spending more than they bring in. The number cause of divorices is financial problems. This problem has destroyed families Instead of buying American, buying foreign made products.Since 2007 the number on food stamps has increased 74%. These aren't enough taxpayer to sustain this. Congress has been a dismal failure but we have to accept some of the blame.i believe Obama is intentionally out to destroy Americaand turn us into a socialist state. The NAFTA of the PAcific he is so proud of will mean millions more jobs lost to America.I also worry when 70 congressmen voted to do away with our Constitution. Congress may be able to put a band aid on our problems but only God can heal the cancer we have in America today. 2Chronicles 7:14

The legal tender laws must be removed before gold and silver can become popular choices of money again. The legal tender laws are one of the center pieces of the Federal Reserve Banking system, as their own regulations refer to their notes as being exchangeable for "lawful" money. "Lawful" money is then defined as US Bank notes which are in limited supply, and no longer kept at most banks. US Bank notes are not an elastic money supply, which keeps the people tied to the FRN, discouraging the use of "lawful" money, and promoting the use of unlawful paper notes.

Any medium of exchange, even gold and silver, will be used by the Central banks to reset their system, and provide them the opportunity to continue to rape the world economies.

A freely chosen gold standard, freely circulating gold and silver coins will only work if the fractional reserve banking system is abolished, and the Central Banks are outlawed.

And as a small step, ask your local media why they have not, at a minimum, reported that over 1500 architects and engineers are presenting evidence that contradicts the official story of fire induced catastrophic collapse of these three skyscrapers on September 11. The planes had nothing to do with the collapse which was a controlled demolition in all three buildings. The US Government story is a fraud.

Press Release.

Architects and Engineers 9/11 Truth.

On September 11, 2001, criminal acts committed here in United States of America killed nearly 3,000 people. And as we all know, the majority of those deaths occurred in the destruction of the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center.

In the decade since 9/11, architects, engineers and other professionals have researched the evidence, and based on the scientific forensic evidence, believe that highly energetic incendiaries, which have many of the properties of explosives, were involved in the destruction of the three World Trade Center high-rises on 9/11.  More than 1500 verified and vetted architects and engineers, including high-rise architects, structural, chemical and fire protection engineers, plus more than 12000 others, have publicly signed the AE911Truth petition calling for a new, independent investigation into the destruction of the World Trade Center buildings on 9/11.

9/11 was a crisis when it happened and allowed no time for questioning what we were told.  In the weeks and months that followed, only one explanation was heard in the media: that structural damage and fire alone destroyed this symbol of America.  But ten years later, we are able to look back and view those scenes through more observant eyes.  We now see a very different and disturbing event that leads us to question what we thought we once knew.  9/11 is now an urgent concern for a growing number U.S. citizens and people around the world. AE911Truth supporters throughout the United States are demanding attention to the fact that highly credentialed professionals dispute the official government reports about the catastrophic destruction of the World Trade Center high-rises on 9/11.

Equally troubling is the fact that most Americans have never even heard that a third skyscraper fell on 9/11.  Have you heard of Building 7?  World Trade Center 7 was a 47-story skyscraper with a footprint nearly the size of a football field - it would have been the tallest building in 33 of our states.  At 5:20 in the afternoon on 9/11, Building 7 fell symmetrically across its entire length and breadth, at a rate indistinguishable from free-fall for the first 100 feet of its descent.  It fell neatly into it's own footprint in about six and a half seconds.

Although the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the government agency tasked with analyzing the destruction of the buildings on 9/11, acknowledged that WTC building 7 fell at free-fall acceleration for 105 feet, NIST failed to admit the implications; all the building supports had to have been simultaneously removed, synchronistically-timed floor by floor to remove all column supports, so that there were no structural components blocking the descent of the upper floors. This cannot be achieved by 'normal office fires,' as NIST claims.

Credentialed experts point to other evidence that investigations by the National Institute of Standards and Technology and other agencies were conducted improperly and seriously compromised.  Evidence was destroyed prior to the completion of the investigation.  'Mysterious' findings of high temperature corrosion and sulfidation of structural steel in the initial FEMA investigations were not carried forward into the NIST reports.  Investigators did not follow the National Fire Protection Association Guide 921: 'Guide for Fire and Explosion Investigations' in the weeks and months after the search for survivors ended.  And NIST failed to include significant relevant forensic evidence, including:

- Rapid onset of destruction with unnatural symmetry
- Breaking apart of the massive steel structures
- Mid-air pulverization of concrete and other building materials
- Incendiary thermitic material and iron micro-spheres discovered in the WTC dust
- Molten iron seen in and under the debris pile by witnesses and documented by FEMA.

As a side note, steel cannot be melted by an office fire of any intensity, but can be melted by incendiaries.

This information is widely available on the internet but is not widely shown on the mainstream media. It is easy to have not yet known or grasped this information.

To mark the 10th anniversary of 9/11, courageous volunteers who believe in freedom of speech as an important founding principle of our nation, are stepping up to open the way for honest discussion of what happened on 9/11.  Throughout the United States, these hardworking, dedicated volunteers are delivering letters to legal and law enforcement professionals; they are gathering and speaking in front of courthouses; they are educating the public by showing documentaries that include interviews with expert petition signers; and they are scheduling meetings with their members of congress calling for a new investigation of 9/11.

9/11 was pivotal point in our nation's history.  Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth and supporters ask that everyone view the evidence presented on our website at Click to view link.  Look at the evidence for yourself, speak with your neighbors and your colleagues, and use this information as best you can to achieve justice for the victims of 9/11 and their families.

And as a small step, ask your local media why they have not, at a minimum, reported that over 1500 architects and engineers are presenting evidence that contradicts the official story of fire induced catastrophic collapse of these three skyscrapers on September 11.

"If you are upset over what is going on in the US, look in the mirror."

This is true, we would be much more complacent if we would look into the mirror, the smoke and mirrors.

Posted by provolone on 09/14/11 07:47 AM

The general population does bear a certain level of responsibility. Not just for their political choices, but the votes they have made with their purchases.

Regardless of whatever lies the media is spewing, it is the responsibility of the individual to seek out information and educate himself. Being embedded within a paradigm of information spoon feeding is not an excuse. Most people make the excuse that they do not have time to stay abreast of issues. They are too busy with their daily routine. They would like to assert that they had no other choice but to choose a lifestyle of busywork, commuting, and decompression.

Energy prices have driven many recent conflicts. North Americans feel entitled to cheap energy. If we factored in the cost of wars to the bottom line of petroleum companies perhaps we would be in different situation today. Citizens do not feel responsible for their excess consumption, but instead blame politicians and faceless corporate entities. Maybe a few people are stuck in traffic listening to Pacifica radio decrying human rights abuses committed in the name of petrol-dollars. They would be complacent, yet not as complacent as the majority who blindly accept G. Bush's "They hate us because we are great" rationale.

Citizens of the world need to be honest with themselves. No one is forcing them to live a life of air conditioned automobiles. People can choose to live closer to where they work. Individuals can decide that air conditioning is not required. No one is forcing North Americans to purchase cheap consumer goods from China. Options are available to buy goods without excessive packaging and shipping. We do not have to go 100% Amish to achieve these goals.

The political solutions are reminiscent of advertisements who tell the consumers that it is not their fault they have become fat. Just call now to order these magic pills that may or may not destroy your liver. Truthfully, the individual had the choice and they chose to be unhealthy. Along the same vein, N. Americans excessively fat and they drive cars too much. Whats wrong with just living closer and riding a bicycle. Solves two problems at once; Or is it more logical to drive to your spin class at the gym after work? Of course those ideas would involve taking responsibility for the gasoline purchases, their own health, and worst of all; It might involve some effort.

When you have traveled around the world, the amount of garbage produced by the average N. American household is shocking. Have the elites put a gun to the head of the consumer and forced them to use disposable goods? Sustainable living is a choice individuals can make.

No matter how appealing what seems to be the easy way out is, there is a hidden cost. Unfortunately, we all must pay the price for the somnambulistic elements of society under the collectivist corporatocracy model. To be certain, there are individuals and organizations who exploit the thoughtless elements of humanity. There are elites who benefit from the ignorant and lazy masses. There are disinformation services who spew bile on a daily basis. At the end of the day the individual decides where he spends his money and who he supports. There are no valid excuses. The buck stops with personal responsibility.

I have chosen to not participate in many of the things outlined above. Doing my part was as simple as 'not doing' my part. Because of my personal experiences as a self made individual, I can not accept excuses blaming others. I could have easily gone the other way in life and chosen the path laid before me. Sacrifices were made and now I enjoy much greater freedom and wealth. I have no problem looking in the introspective mirror and asking myself if I am responsible. If you have a problem with the image in the mirror, maybe you are part of the problem. Unfortunately, the vast majority of people creating these problems will never think critically, much less question their own complicity.

Re; The United Front on monetarism --
This morning Faux News did a segment of limited hang-out on the Fed. Today's meme is, "Of course, it's important that it be independent, because it prints the money. Any attempts to audit it or control it risk that independence. But maybe the government should have some kind of say in who gets picked for the board of governors."

They are aiming at and hitting the bulls-eye on exactly the wrong target with this kind of weak damage control.

People are slowly waking up to the moral and economic implications of a private entity that not only prints the money, but loans it at interest, putting us all into perpetual bondage to them. The rumbling is getting louder, but the press is pretending it is from something else.

It won't work. The end game is on. The banks are ending up with all the real estate and chaining a millstone around our necks while destroying the economy, and it is no longer possible to sweep the cause under the rug.

Another meme that is being pushed hard this week on talk radio is that support of any candidate that doesn't have 'electability' is a complete waste of time. I believe this is being pushed because of the rumbling about the Fed. Anyone who doesn't think the 2008 candidacy of Ron Paul, made possible by the internet, altered the course of history, is missing the sea change that is happening. This time it's getting bigger and gaining speed.

The mainstream media and government will pull out all the stops this time, to insure that their 'electable' candidate gets all the press, and that your impoverishment gets blamed on capitalism and its 'market failures'. In doing so, it will continue to reveal itself for the ridiculous lying machine that it is. People who believe what the lying machine tells them are now subject to open ridicule in daily conversations. Soon enough, the awareness will come home that the foundation of that power is the unlimited funding of the printing press, and all the machinations and contrived controversies are designed to distract attention from that fact. The more they push their hidden agenda, the more they reveal themselves.

When the money meme blows up, the idea that we should be forever impoverished by a government that acts as a collection agent for the banks, using money borrowed from the banks to rule over us, will blow up with it.

It really looks like the lying machine is getting a little frantic.

My response to them: You don't own me. It's not my debt and I'm not gonna pay it.
