Crocker's Book on the Wonders of the British Empire Is Not So Wonderful
America's Success Owes Much to the British Empire ... As many Americans no longer believe in American exceptionalism and others believe America's greatness is guaranteed to extend perpetually, we could all benefit by reviewing the history of the British Empire, the realm from which we sprung and acquired so much. By the time most baby boomers were born, the British Empire had declined. The Nazis and Japanese had been defeated in World War II, and two major military powers – the United States and the Soviet Union – were faced off at the beginning of a nearly half-century-long struggle we call the Cold War. The great British Empire, which dominated the world mere decades before, was rarely on our current events radar, and it got little better treatment in our history courses, except as the villain we had to defeat in two wars to attain our independence and as the waning world power whose chestnuts we had saved from Adolf Hitler's fire. Oh, how much we missed, not just of British history but of our own, because we can't fully appreciate our greatness without understanding much more about our immediate ancestor. But there's an easy way to make up for all that lost time, a way to fill in the gaps and much more. My friend Harry Crocker's "The Politically Incorrect Guide to the British Empire" has just been released, and it's a one-stop shop for telling us all we should have learned about that empire and precisely how much we owe it. – David Limbaugh, NewsMax
Dominant Social Theme: The British are really great people and their elites are even better.
Free-Market Analysis: David Limbaugh has posted a review of his friend Harry Crocker's latest book over at NewsMax.com (see excerpt above); to us it includes a number of elite dominant social themes that make it newsworthy.
We're trying to figure out who Harry Crocker is, but biographical info on him is not especially generous. He has written a number of books, some of which are in support of the Catholic Church from both an institutional and programmatic standpoint. He is also a supporter of the "Old South" from what we can tell. Now, we haven't read the book, but David Limbaugh's review raises significant issues for us.
Our main issue is this: Crocker evidently and obviously believes empires are good, or that they have good results anyway. Many people (including some elves) believe they are not "good." We'll go even further and state that empires are BAD. They are, to use a term of current media art (which only shows how Samuel Johnson's beloved language has degraded) "a great vampire squid wrapped around the face of humanity."
The vitality of empires, as we have often pointed out, is built while people are still relatively free. The primary recipe for creating great cultures (as opposed to great empires) has to do with serial municipal environments that are fairly close geographically but are nonetheless competitors, even though the languages are the same or similar.
This state of affairs, which emerges throughout modern history, allows the most productive and often the most rebellious people to move from one place to another with their families when oppression strikes at them. Not only that but the competition inherent in these regional environments makes them freer as a general rule.
What are some examples? We've provided them in the past. The Greek Golden Age was the product of disparate Greek city-states. Rome was ultimately the product of the Seven Hills. The Renaissance was the product of Italian city-states. The American empire was ultimately the result of 13 separate states as well.
As for Britain, we would speculate that a historical accident made it the center of cultural currents that swirled about Europe for most of its post-Neolithic history. Wikipedia explains the following: "Anglo-Saxon England until the 9th century was dominated by the Heptarchy, the kingdoms of Northumbria, Mercia, East Anglia, Essex, Kent, Sussex and Wessex."
Later on, of course, England was "consolidated." But that's what happens with all great cultures. They start out free and end up being homogenized. This centralization of a great, free peoples gives the empire a residual energy – entrepreneurial and otherwise – that fools people into thinking it is the "empire" that imparts greatness to the culture. But it is actually the other way round.
An empire is always a culture's death knell. One only has to look at Britain (or America) to see what happens once an agglomeration of people becomes an "empire." To begin with, an empire's leaders always look outwards because they are trying to impress the benefits of authoritarianism on their already brow-beaten subjects. But eventually empires start to collapse and all that outwardly-aimed aggression and hostility rebounds and pounds the domestic population into further subjugation.
There is nothing much positive to say about empires in our humble view. Crocker believes Britain "gave" its conquered subjects much of benefit. Limbaugh, who is enthusiastic about this notion, writes: "The British not only established our chartered colonies but also largely populated those settlements and gave us our language, culture, government and, most importantly, our ideas of liberty and the rule of law, including our critically important common law heritage." Here's some more from Limbaugh's article:
We remain in awe of the enormity and dominance of the Roman Empire — and rightly so — but did you realize that at its height, the British Empire was the largest empire ever, covering a quarter of the world — even half, if you consider its control of the oceans — and governing a quarter of the people on the planet? Though it is de rigueur today to condemn British colonialism, Harry not only defends the Brits' colonial achievements but also unashamedly champions them.
"The empire," he writes, "was incontestably a good thing. The fact that it is controversial to say so is why this book had to be written. In the groves of academe, colonialism and imperialism are dirty words, the fons et origo of Western expansion with all its alleged sins of racism, capitalism, and ignorant, judgmental, hypocritical Christian moralism."
In keeping with the book's title, Harry rejects this politically correct view. To him, "to hate the British Empire is to hate ourselves, for the United States would not exist if not for the British Empire." Harry means that the British not only established our chartered colonies but also largely populated those settlements and gave us our language, culture, government and, most importantly, our ideas of liberty and the rule of law, including our critically important common law heritage.
The empire has far from a perfect record, and Harry doesn't hide the blemishes, but he also gives us the other side — finally — and that other side is impressive. Long before continental Europe went through its turbulent revolutionary period, which ultimately led to republican government, the British had firmly established the roots of free institutions, limited government, and impartial justice.
Limbaugh may be in awe of the Roman Empire, but we're not. The cities of the Seven Hills must have been pretty impressive and Rome in the first stages of its gathering together was also probably a nice place to live (if you were a Roman), relatively speaking, anyway. But once Caesar came along, all that ended. Just read Robert Graves to get a feeling for what the post-Republic period in Rome was like.
Crocker is using the standard "empire" paradigm of history. It is entirely nonsensical. History is the product of PEOPLE. As we have learned from examining the modern power elite, over time psychopaths always take over societies, or try to. Eventually they use war and then mercantilism to break down the culture and impose their will.
Once the psychotic elements of society are in power, they set about "directing" history. It is inevitable. In the Middle Ages, Western kings claimed their divinity arose from Godhead and there was a whole industry (religious or otherwise) put in place to impress that fact on the populace.
In the modern era, directed history keeps running into communication technologies. That's why we have offered our own paradigm. Our idea is that modern history is not a clash of CIVILIZATIONS but a clash of CLASSES over COMMUNICATION CONTROL. It's the middle classes versus the elites, with the masses of the lower classes (partially) as the prize.
The elites get their way by manipulating history and shutting down competing communication centers. The promotions – we call them dominant social themes – are intense. In this modern era, the elite's fear-based promotions are aimed at creating global governance. But such promotions have ALWAYS been aimed at consolidating and then keeping power.
Empires destroy civilization; they don't create it. The British Empire did not provide countries like India with "freedom" or "modern civilization"; they crushed the most ancient and civilized extant society and put a brutal centralizing bureaucracy in its place. Sure they gave the country railroads. So what?
India was made up of principalities, each competing with the other. The British ended all that. Then a decision was made at the top of the hierarchy to "end" the British Empire. This happened after World War II. Churchill was no doubt entirely aware of this change in plans. That's why he kept coming out with his lugubrious quotes about the "end of empire."
It's really ludicrous. The Anglosphere elites – the great Jewish banking families and their associates and enablers – were never more powerful than after World War II. The City of London, the Vatican, Washington DC and Tel Aviv were to rule the world as never before.
Conclusion: Churchill, of course, would go on to write books about the British Empire. "History will be kind to me, for I intend to write it," he reportedly said. Churchill was a special kind of liar. Those who write books about the "greatness of empire" aren't telling the truth either, in our opinion. And surely they're neglecting the impact of the Internet Reformation ...

Oops …… 'twas a flow of consciousness without preconceived and artificial, self-serving barriers to progress and alternative reality productions, DB. IT just carried me away with it. :-)
Nevertheless, the point is well made and accepted. I shall endeavour to remember to write in a manner most suited for every discussion and Round Table. And I am heartily encouraged that the message conveyed was not challenged and implausibly denied as being true, which is surely a great quantum leap forward for us all to enjoy and expect greater things from, methinks.
Certainly there are much greater things to come, and of that you can be assured, for I am forever learning of new things to share here, from both here and there and everywhere.
You do realise, I hope, [and trust in Global Operating Devices] that if you are not careful/if you are careful, you could be leading the world with comments shared on the Daily Bell.

"There is no innocent jew!"
-------------------
Howdy, alexsemen!
You have me a bit confused now. In a number of postings you insisted that "THE GERMANS" were responsible for most of the worlds ills, and, therefore, the prime global villains. NOW you say there is "no innocent jew" as well ... "NO" as in NOT A SINGLE ONE.
Well, alexsemen, some malicious-infamous questions, then, from one German, Jew-apologist ignoramus:
1. Following your argumentation - wouldn't be GERMAN JEWS the WORST OF ALL?
2. Why didn't you write about this, then? For reasons of dramaturgy? Cleverly maintaining suspense?
3. Was the culling of Jews and the following culling of Germans 1939-1945 (and some million collateral damage) the climax of human achievement already, or will the human race only be healed when, at long last, Germans, Jews - German Jews first, of course - are removed from the face of the planet?
4. How, exactly, would you like to see the removing organized?
5. Is there some OTHER group of "people" you'd like to enlighten me about?

And whoever invented that crass element, proposing that it was good for business, was obviously fooled and/or a first class, sub-prime intellect fool, for it creates nothing by deepening and ultimately, self-destructive chaos. Although it is quite probably true that there are number of similar parasitic practices, and all earlier proposed without the wisdom and knowledge of hindsight, which need to be removed from the scene and Great Game so that Better Plays can be seamlessly and quickly delivered, with delectable delights for all.
Certainly there is the Advanced IntelAIgents and InterNetworking Communications Technology and Virtual Methodology available to deliver the Future Presently …. and would IT and does IT do so, and on a more massive scale with AIMighty Colossus to boot, once current elites are sufficiently educated to engage with Principal Servers, for Principal Servers are surely engaged to SMART enable and provide them with all necessary edutainment and capability.

We've written several times on the idea that there was at least ONE precursor civilization to the present one (if we can call this one "civilization.") There are apparently flooded cities in the not-so-deep coastal environs of the Pacific and Atlantic. But will archeologists investigate these ruins? Nope. The power elite intends to make sure that we believe this is the "best of all times" and that nothing else that came before was anything other than primitive.
Good luck with your book. You're a smart guy. You might want to write the book in your native language, whatever that is ....

DB you are probably right about identifying with the culture more than the country. I keep trying to write a longer post to go with this but it is more depressing with every try. That culture that I want to identify with seems to only exist in isolated pockets, like this one. Many want to be John Galt but that does not fix anything. I spent a couple years helping teach history to a large group of homeschoolers. Even the youngest seemed to understand our problems better than most adults I know. One of the few bright spots I can see.
Reply from The Daily Bell
Well ... one can be optimistic or pessimistic. But identifying with a culture (other PEOPLE) is certainly preferable in our view to identifying with lines on a map!

Hi Molly,
Well, it should be a fascinating answer one way or the other. Alien technology?
Really? (smile) But yes, it did sound as though money in MFM's scenario would be obsolete - which is why I'm so interested in understanding it.
The interesting point is, money (basically)represents *work* --now, could that be summarily dispensed with? I don't think it could be.
Regards.

Hi, DarbyJie,
Mr. Mars can speak for himself of course; but I suspect he might be talking about alien technology that would make the PE's money obsolete and unnecessary.
My contention is that we don't have to use alien technology, clever though it may be. (Assuming its existence--I do remain a sceptic, aman) And we most assuredly do not want it to be "exclusive". In that lies just a new flavor of tyranny. We need competition among currencies, gold and silver included, and purely digital currency is, apparently, being developed. These are interesting times.

There was only one city, Rome, which was built on seven hills. Not seven cities on seven hills. (For those interested in the identity of the Whore of Babylon, "she who sits on the seven hills", the headquarters of the Catholic Church is on an eighth hill, which is on the opposite side of the Tiber river from the other seven. The eighth hill is the Vatican hill.)
As for London, Washington, the Vatican and Tel Aviv being designated as the world ruling cities after WW II - Tel Aviv was a small town with a very short life expectancy at the time.
As for the Roman Empire, most of it, and all of its civilized urban core territories, were conquered during the centuries of the Roman Republic. The Empire period mostly added semi-barbarian territories, such as England and parts of northern Europe.
As for the English occupation of India: with all its racism and economic exploitation, the English also ended suttee (the standard practice of burning widows alive on their husband's funeral pyres); ended the Thuggee worship of Kali, which involved kidnapping and murdering travellers, who gave us the word "thug"; founded the first orphanages in India, since the death of a child's parents proved that they had acquired bad karma in a previous life, and should kindly be helped to die so as to pay it off; founded India's university system...
I read DB with interest, and learn a great deal from it. But if you are going to theorize about grand sweeps of history, the theories would be more authoritative if your basic historical facts were correct.

The eighth hill is the Vatican hill.) For the film starring Mario Lanza, see Seven Hills of Rome (film).
DB: From Wikpedia: "The original city was held by tradition to have been founded by Romulus on the Palatine Hill ... Tradition holds that the seven hills were first occupied by small settlements and not grouped or recognized as a city called Rome. The denizens of the seven hills began to participate in a series of religious games, which started to bond the groups. The city of Rome, thus, came into being as these separate settlements acted as a group, draining the marshy valleys between them and turning them into markets and fora."
And this is what we wrote in the article (above) ... "The vitality of empires, as we have often pointed out, is built while people are still relatively free. DB: What is it about "culture" that you don't understand? The CULTURE created by separate (founding) closely-linked societies - like those in Rome, Italy, Greece, America, etc. - seems to give rise to an entrepreneurial energy that galvanizes the later empire. That the Roman republic expanded via force of arms has little to do with our underlying point.
-----
As for the English occupation of India: with all its racism and economic exploitation, the English also ended suttee (the standard practice of burning widows alive on their husband's funeral pyres); ended the Thuggee worship of Kali, which involved kidnapping and murdering travellers, who gave us the word "thug"; founded the first orphanages in India, since the death of a child's parents proved that they had acquired bad karma in a previous life, and should kindly be helped to die so as to pay it off; founded India's university system...
DB: The British elites with their enablers and associates have apparently been building one-world government for at least a century, and probably closer to 300 years from what we can tell. One can make a cogent argument that the British colonial period was actually motivated by plans to introduce the kinds of strengthened central governments that could later support the kind of regionalization and "unions" that are now taking place around the world. The Georgia Guidestones speak of a carrying population on earth of 500 million. That's some trade-off! The Indians got state-run orphanages and universities that preach global warming. The world, generally, gets economic chaos, a phony war on terror and, finally one-world government complete with a planned genocide. And before you go off about "paranoia" and "conspiracy theories" please Google "Club of Rome" and "population control."

I must be way off the mark in understanding your fascinating post, for surely it cannot be correct that you are saying we "have no more need of money" in the sense that we've always known it. Thus, I wonder if you would be kind enough to expand on your meaning--and also wonder if the point you are making has to do with a complete shift to some sort of electronic money, that is: exclusively?
Thanks in advance!
Best regards.

DB: Day by day work of your beloved Jews ! There is no innocent jew!
Organ Gangs Force Poor to Sell Kidneys for Desperate Israelis
Aliaksei Yafimau shudders at the memory of the burly thug who threatened to kill his relatives. Yafimau, who installs satellite television systems in Babrujsk, Belarus, answered an advertisement in 2010 offering easy money to anyone willing to sell a kidney.
He saw it as a step toward getting out of poverty. Instead, Yafimau, 30, was thrust into a dark journey around the globe that had him, at one point, locked in a hotel room for a month in Quito, Ecuador, waiting for surgeons to cut out an organ, Bloomberg Markets magazine reports in its December issue.
The man holding Yafimau against his will was Roini Shimshilashvili, a former kickboxer who was an enforcer for an international organ-trafficking ring, according to evidence gathered by police in Kiev. Yafimau says that when he pleaded with Shimshilashvili to let him get out of the deal and go home, the big man sliced the air with Thai-boxing moves and threatened him.
"He said if I didn't go through with it, he would leave me in Ecuador and kill my family," Yafimau says.
Doctors removed Yafimau's left kidney in July 2010 and transplanted it into an Israeli woman, according to the Kiev police investigation. On the plane back to Belarus, on the western border of Russia, Shimshilashvili told Yafimau that if he wanted to live, he shouldn't talk to police. … Many of the black-market kidneys harvested by these gangs are destined for people who live in Israel. With a generally well-educated population of 7.4 million and a modern medical system, Israel has an acute shortage of organs, in part because of religious beliefs. …
The dearth of available organs in Israel has spawned a new class of criminals, mainly immigrants from the former Soviet Union, says Jerusalem Police Superintendent Gilad Bahat.
Investigators on five continents say they have uncovered intertwining criminal rings run by Israelis and eastern Europeans that move people across borders -- sometimes against their will -- to sell a kidney. …
Jonathan Ratel, a Pristina, Kosovo-based prosecutor who has been investigating organ trafficking over the past two years, appointed by the European Union to help restore the country's criminal justice system, is overseeing a pivotal organ-trafficking case. He says he's stunned by the callousness of the criminals who run the organ rings. Traffickers in Kosovo threatened one kidney seller with death if he testified in court, so the court had the man placed into a witness protection program. …
Sasha Harel, an Israeli who was born in Istanbul, controlled much of the organ trafficking in eastern countries. His deputy, Yuri Katzman, a Belarussian-born Israeli, organised the victims for Harel in Kosovo. Harel was released on bail, and prosecutors say he fled to Israel. Harel, 61, couldn't be reached for comment.
The Israeli-eastern European organ-trafficking rings have also extended their reach to the U.S. In July 2009, the Justice Department charged Levy Rosenbaum, an Israeli living in New York, with conspiracy to commit human organ trafficking.
A Federal Bureau of Investigation agent says he caught Rosenbaum, who lives in Brooklyn, New York, offering to sell a kidney for $160,000. Rosenbaum was the first, and so far the only, person arrested for organ trafficking in the U.S. since the activity was outlawed in 1984.
Rosenbaum, 60, pleaded guilty on Oct. 27 to brokering the sale of human kidneys. Free on bail, he could be sentenced to five years in prison. He declined to comment.
Rosenbaum worked with Sammy Shem-Tov in Jerusalem to lure young men and women to sell kidneys, according to Avichai Osuna, who says he was recruited to sell a kidney by both men.
Osuna, an unemployed 27-year-old man in Be'er Sheva, a city in the Negev Desert south of Jerusalem, moonlighted as an apprentice for Shem-Tov, before he became a seller. Shem-Tov paid Osuna 1,500 shekels ($410) a month to use his ability to speak English to arrange illegal organ transplants with foreign hospitals, Osuna says.

In 2009 a Ukrainian philosophy professor said that Israel has brought thousands of Ukrainian children into the country to harvest their organs.
Vyacheslav Gudin told about 300 attendees at a conference in Kiev on Nov. 29, 2009 that Israeli medical centres have used the children for "spare parts" in the past two years, the Israeli newspaper Ha'aretz reported on Dec. 3, 2009.
The claim, which has been picked up by several Ukrainian Web sites, comes several months after a Swedish newspaper article claimed that Israel's army killed Palestinians for their organs.
We need your support bringing knowledge to the people. Thank you very much.
During the above mentioned Kiev conference, two professors presented a book blaming the Jewish Commissars for the Ukrainian famine of the 1930s, according to Ha'aretz. Ukrainian Presidential candidate, Sergey Ratushnyak, has repeatedly made allegations that there was a world-wide organised programme of organ harvesting by Jewish organisations, clandestinely backed by the Israeli and Western governments.
Fact is, organ selling has become a multi-billion-business. "Donald Boström, photographer and writer, accuses the Israeli army of involvement in the illegal human organ trade. ... Boström links allegations of organ harvesting from individual Palestinians to a New York-based crime suspect, Rabbi Levy Izhak Rosenbaum, recently accused of attempting to facilitate the sale of a kidney from a donor in Israel." (The Local, Sweden, 23.09.2009)
Jewish clout silenced then the Swedish media on organised mass murders by Jewish Mafia organisations for organ thefts.
Are anti-Semits in the right?

Alexsemen returns. Sometimes we wonder why we bother. OK. Jews are evil. They have an evil gene. It's not culture. Not historical wealth. Genetics. And not some Jews. All Jews. Evil.

I believe he is helping you find more room in your mind, inviting you to stretch out that thought musculature that has been so confined, withering from toxic intellectual invasion by the pervasive mistruthery of the kindy view you are expected to operate, when which you do know deeper down, is so very wrong/deficient/unsafe/exploited.
Take it for a walk/run/fly, and consider that as an infant you likely learned to walk, which after the initial grasp of the idea was followed by repetetive recursive attempts; falling over, newness, unknowns, fear, skill building, then confidence, eventually followed by autonomous individual ability to move with a unique flair, even doing so with vigour, glee and intent just to please and entertain. This allowed all sorts of other stuff to happen for you.

"We're going to march some of them off the tops of the Swiss alps today, just to scare the other ones into being smarter." Tyranny at The Daily Bell, is nothing sacred?

Our attempts to take Canada were early in our history and thus small, feeble and unsuccessful. How many times we tried to depends on you count them, by my count at the very least twice. There were very few people living on the enormous territory we took from Mexico, but we still had to fight them to take it. The Indian wars are mostly not thought of as wars since there were so few of them. They were mostly killed by old world diseases before there was even a possibility of conflict.
Taking over nearly empty land may seem like a moral good but we still had to fight them and we still took the land they were living on. The trail of Tears does not compare with the Holocaust because of its scale but the scale is the main difference. We have not taken overseas colonies but we had a mostly empty continent to fill so until fairly recent times there would have been no point.
Arizona did not even become a state until 1912. Since then our fireign policy has been dictated by events that effected the whole world, WWI, the Great Depression, WWII, the cold war. Yes DB many of us do identify with our countries but I for one am not making any decisions for mine, they don't even care what I think.

Hm-mm, think we would rather identify with a CULTURE than a country, which is ultimately an artificial entity created by the "state" ... Which is more important to you? Your culture or some sort of arbitrary regional boundary ...

Dear amanfm,
Have you lost your mind? Or have you simply lowered your literary skills so this meager earthling could comprehend your masterful description of the new order.

The "barbarians" were only called that by the Romans, who feared them and whose so-called "stability" was eventually taken down by them. Recent study has shown that the "barbarians" were anything-but.
