'Safe' Nuclear Meme Shattered by Fukushima Expose in Leading Journal

By Staff Report

14,000 U.S. Deaths Tied to Fukushima Reactor Disaster Fallout ... Impact Seen As Roughly Comparable to Radiation-Related Deaths After Chernobyl; Infants Are Hardest Hit, With Continuing Research Showing Even Higher Possible Death Count ... An estimated 14,000 excess deaths in the United States are linked to the radioactive fallout from the disaster at the Fukushima nuclear reactors in Japan, according to a major new article in the December 2011 edition of the International Journal of Health Services. This is the first peer-reviewed study published in a medical journal documenting the health hazards of Fukushima. Authors Joseph Mangano and Janette Sherman note that their estimate of 14,000 excess U.S. deaths in the 14 weeks after the Fukushima meltdowns is comparable to the 16,500 excess deaths in the 17 weeks after the Chernobyl meltdown in 1986. – PRNewswire-USNewswire

Dominant Social Theme: It's bad but it can't be helped. Nuclear power is the wave of the future.

Free-Market Analysis: The slow poisoning of Japanese citizens is going unreported in the West except for some dedicated journals and web-reports including, importantly, Rense.com, which has stayed on the story seemingly every day. It is a very important one, because it encompasses numerous elite/societal trends and their successes and failures.

There are elite dominant social themes attached to nuclear power, of course. The biggest one has to do with complexity. In a world dominated by an Anglosphere power elite, the way to global domination is via intense complexity. Make a person's world insupportable without an extremely complex infrastructure and that person will be far more malleable than one who can survive on little.

Enter nuclear power, which is surely among the most complex sources of energy ever invented. Early man picked up sticks to make a fire. Now it takes tens of billions of dollars to generate energy and hundreds of people to fan the flames.

Of course, such complexity has a cost. Nuclear plants, as they've been constructed, are apparently accidents waiting to happen. That's another dominant social theme, or a sub dominant one anyway: Let's not mention the accidents. They make it sound like nuclear energy is unsafe. It is, of course, but we'll pretend it's not.

And pretend they have. That's what always happens these days. Western governments are relying more and more on pretense as the building blocks of REAL civilization are eroded by the falsities of Money Power.

But there is now the Internet. And thanks to this era of the Internet, reality increasingly intrudes. As we have pointed out in the past, even if the Internet were shut down tomorrow, it has already informed several generations (around the world) of the Way Things Really Work.

The power elite uses dominant social themes as fear-based promotions designed to frighten Western middle classes into giving up power and wealth to globalist institutions like the UN. But what we call the Internet Reformation is making these themes increasingly irrelevant.

Nuclear power is likely one such increasingly irrelevant theme. The elites may like its complexity, but not many others do. The elites may wish to keep quiet about the dangers of nuclear power and let people die of secret poisoning. But these days it's hard to accomplish that.

And now there is this: what seems to us a fairly definitive article in the 40-year old International Journal of Health Services. "Of the major English-language health policy journals, the IJHS ranks in the top five for frequency of citation of its articles in the scientific literature," according to the publisher's website. Here's some more from the article:

The rise in reported deaths after Fukushima was largest among U.S. infants under age one. The 2010-2011 increase for infant deaths in the spring was 1.8 percent, compared to a decrease of 8.37 percent in the preceding 14 weeks. The IJHS article will be published Tuesday and will be available online as of 11 a.m. EST at www.radiation.org.

Just six days after the disastrous meltdowns struck four reactors at Fukushima on March 11, scientists detected the plume of toxic fallout had arrived over American shores. Subsequent measurements by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) found levels of radiation in air, water, and milk hundreds of times above normal across the U.S. ...

Epidemiologist Joseph Mangano, MPH MBA, said: "This study of Fukushima health hazards is the first to be published in a scientific journal. It raises concerns, and strongly suggests that health studies continue, to understand the true impact of Fukushima in Japan and around the world.

Findings are important to the current debate of whether to build new reactors, and how long to keep aging ones in operation."Mangano is executive director, Radiation and Public Health Project, and the author of 27 peer-reviewed medical journal articles and letters.

This is pretty damning stuff. The catastrophes are adding up: Three Mile Island, Chernobyl, Fukushima. Something else is adding up as well: the foundering of elite dominant social themes in the Internet era. Whether it is global warming, peak oil, central banking or even the war on terror, people are increasingly skeptical of government promotions.

Of course, the pushback never ends. The Anglosphere power elites own and control the mainstream media and thus each and every dominant social theme continues to be supported. In the case of this Fukushima study, the rebuttals are already beginning, courtesy of Scientific American that already published an article, "Researchers Trumpet Another Flawed Fukushima Death Study."

The author, Michael Moyer, writes that the authors’ statistical claims "are critically flawed—if not deliberate mistruths.” He basically accuses the authors of alarmism and calls the study "sloppy, agenda-driven work"

But a quick scan of the comments below Moyer's article also reveals something interesting: accusations that the statistics that Moyers himself relies on comes from the Japanese government that has a vested interest in reducing the level of alarm surrounding Fukushima.

Of course, this brings up an even more fundamental issue. In the past, a rebuttal such as Moyer has written would likely have sufficed to stigmatize the alarmists and place such arguments at the periphery of the debate. Not so today. It is not enough anymore simply to cite government statistics and arguments. The credibility of this sort of approach is leaking away.

The elites will not be able to salvage nuclear power via statistical arguments. It has been a failing meme for some time. But if there is anything good to come out of Fukushima it may be not so much that nuclear power is dead (certainly it's dying) but that there will be even more pressure to investigate alternative forms of energy.

By "alternative" we do not mean windmills and solar power. But real, significant breakthroughs such as those that may have been made by such brilliant scientists as Nikola Telsa. We wrote about Tesla just recently here: VIDEO: Now Internet Reformation Demands Tesla's Research on Limitless Energy.

Nuclear power (as currently constituted, anyway) is a ridiculously costly and complex way of generating power. It is a 20th century solution and the conversation has moved on. Whether it is cold fusion or Tesla's ideas, which are not so far-fetched when you consider them seriously, the 21st century may bring renewed insights about energy secrets that have either been repressed by the elites or at least not fully investigated.

Conclusion: Maybe something "good" may emerge from Fukushima, though it will not help the poor unfortunates who have sickened and died as a result of this latest energy catastrophe.

"We have reported on this in the past, explaining that Dubai and other controlled "Islamic states" are experiments in integrating Western "capitalism" into Middle Eastern Sunni business environments. There is nothing in this effort that indicates opposition by Eurocentric central banking families ... "

Huh? Intruding Western Capitalism into Islamic States is normal Western Imperialism. Accepting Islamic law in Western Countries is quite another thing, but one supported and advocated by David Rockefeller and other pro-Saudi or Saudi ass-kissing Western Elitist. Certainly not "Eurocentric" behavior.

"Right there is an evident and obvious global superstructure, but you will ignore it in your misguided attempts to claim that top elites are "at war" with each other and that David Rockefeller wants to create universal sharia law."

Didn't say that. He wants Harvard scholars to study how Sharia might be itegrated with Western Law, no doubt to appease his Saudi (OPEC) partners and, probably most importantly, pave the way for a World Government that must incorporate a large measure of Islamic influence if not ISLAMIC DOMINANCE. Google it if you doubt me.

No doubt radiation deaths are being "calculated" for Goff's assumptions about radiation damage, not actual counts. This is similar to nonsensical calculated global warming from flawed "greenhouse" assumptions that leave out dozens and dozens of other factors.

"Nonsense. Rockefeller and Keynes worked together to create globalist facilities including the IMF, World Bank, etc. Keynes belonged to the British Bloomsbury nexus. Next you will claim that Keynes was Rockefeller agent. Who pays you?"

I didn't say Rockefeller has NOTHING TO DO WITH MONEY power. I don't know about Keynes, but it is true that the Rockefellers beginning back in the 20s took over many originally Anglophile orbit organizations. Topping the list was the Council on Foreign Relations (David was the head for a time long after the Rockefeller $$$ began pouring in. . .). Dr. Josephson documented Rockefeller money going into left-wing groups in Britain to undermine the Empire.

Please note that these deaths are for less than four months. Nine months have elapsed since the first meltdown. Someone needs to update these statistics. The waves of radioactive fallout continue across the Pacific to the U.S.

Also note that the EPA stopped reporting to the public as soon as abnormal amounts of radiation were detected in the U.S. Americans are not permitted to know the magnitude of radioactive fallout affecting them in a way that can be understood by the layman except through a few citizens who measure it. Children here are being exposed to radioactive fallout with total silence from the government as to what parents might do to protect them. Naturally, the significance of Fukushima to Americans goes unreported to the masses. Click to view link attempts to keep up-to-date on the situation, but the difficulty of doing so is multiplied by the contradictory press releases from TEPCO.

Funny there's little mention of the fact that a certain Team went in with equipment and ordered everyone clear, just before an explosion occurred.

And equally little mention of the 130B or so bearer bonds caught disappearing across a certain Italian border in the posession of a couple of Japanese.

Not that one would think it rational to assume that it was deliberate or retaliatory for financial dance-moves out of step, no that just couldnt be.

Im off to bed, to dream way above the heads of the Idiot Engineering Mechanicals & Fundamentals Professor and Faulty Faculty Dean who saw fit to 'discipline and threaten censure' on their 1st year student for merely asking twice; 'How do you deal with the waste safely?'

Sweet dreams.

"Let's not mention the accidents. They make it sound like nuclear energy is unsafe. It is, of course, but we'll pretend it's not."

---------------------------

I sometimes wonder why the elite takes the risk of three nuclear power plants operating not very far from their domicile ...

Click to view link*GwiKkdtuAlkq1ZJipVC8OTJ*addEjet4GmuybpWptcXiO82YtWi1eE1JeT6B7Q/1.jpg.gif

... they're not impervious to radiation, are they? Similar confusion on my part with these kind of risks:

"Alarm as Dutch lab creates highly contagious killer flu - A deadly strain of bird flu with the potential to infect and kill millions of people has been created in a laboratory by European scientists - who now want to publish full details of how they did it. The discovery has prompted fears within the US Government that the knowledge will fall into the hands of terrorists wanting to use it as a bio-weapon of mass destruction.

(... )

"The fear is that if you create something this deadly and it goes into a global pandemic, the mortality and cost to the world could be massive," a senior scientific adviser to the US Government told The Independent, speaking on condition of anonymity.

"The worst-case scenario here is worse than anything you can imagine."

(... )

Scientists are in little doubt that the newly created strain of H5N1 - resulting from just five mutations in two key genes - has the potential to cause a devastating human pandemic that could kill tens of millions of people. The study was carried out on ferrets, which when infected with influenza are the best animal "model" of the human disease.

The details of the study are so sensitive that they are being scrutinised by the US Government's own National Science Advisory Board for Biosecurity, which is understood to have advised American officials that key parts of the scientific paper should be redacted to prevent terrorists from using the information to reverse-engineer their own lethal strain of flu virus."

Apart from the obvious question - whether this is just another scare-mongering meme to further government "solutions" - one wonders - assuming that the threat is somewhat real - how far the elite is immune, how they're doing it, and how big they define the circle of indispensable (and thus "protected") enablers.

If I could have cheap electricity I'd live in the back yard of a nuke plant. I'm planning on moving to Wyoming or thereabouts in order to escape from the city. When the Yellowstone Caldera blows its top, and it will, you guys will wish you were all living in Fukushima. Live dangerously, Nietzsche and I say.

Also, it's been less than a year since the disaster. The bodies will keep on piling up year after year for hundreds of years to come. At some point in the next few years, we may even see a partial evacuation of Tokyo.

Honestly I'm not convinced Tesla's ideas will help. By screwing around with ever more complex technolgies, we risk ever more complex catastrophies: this is inherent in the promethean path. IMO our entire technological, scientific, and philosophical base needs redeveloping, pretty much from scratch. Anyone interested in this line of thinking should read 'A Language Older Than Words' by Derrick Jensen.

Also, for those interested in Fukushima, these two sites are brilliant news resources:

Wow, this is pretty daunting to add in my 2 cents after Mr. Miller's alternative reality input, especially since I'm fairly exhausted right now, but here goes.

DB, here is my Xmas gift to you of three important add-on paradigms tucked away in your article.

First, several months ago I posted a feedback comment about elite complexity, or, as Austin Fitts so cogently explains, extreme levels of "artificial complexity", e.g. centralized agriculture and processed food, along with fluoride in the water, etc., combine to create endless health problems in young and old alike, this in turn creates a need for extraordinary levels of health care that give rise to complex insurance models and massive public subsidies. In my comment, I pointed out how the concept of the Law of Diminishing Returns is bearing down on all of this complexity. In fact, it is increasingly apparent that, of late, the elite have been hitting the wall of diminishing returns hard, fast, and with increasing frequency - faring as well as bugs on a busy highway - splat! The more money they pour into their police state, their GMO foods, their global casino, and their propaganda machine, the less bang they get for their buck.

A second meme you may want to expand on is that not only is Japan being slowly poisoned, but also the U.S. and the rest of the world! Consider chemtrails, Big Pharma drugs, vaccine cocktails, fluoride, GMOs and large scale food production, the chemicals leached into groundwater during fracking (also an ideal tool to push Agenda 21), and the Gulf oil spill combined with corexit - just to name a few. The key, as with all of their programs, is that generally these things are insidious and done incrementally.

Finally, please consider a somewhat nuanced view to the peak oil meme. After years of careful study, I find that the best way to reframe the peak oil meme is in terms of ARTIFICIAL SCARCITY. However one dissects the thorny issue of global oil production, it is impossible to get away from the fact that the global elite have always known that there are consistent patterns to oil exploration and production and eventually production would meet demand and that time would come sooner rather than later if demand were stoked by putting consumption patterns on steroids through rapid expansion of debt under the fiat money paradigm (classic misallocation) and by expanding the western model of unbridled consumption to billions in the third world, not to mention the waste generated through endless warfare. And, I would not be surprised if Lindsey Williams is correct when he says that TPTB are holding back knowledge of large oil finds, although, we don't have credible evidence yet of this.

We really need to reframe the peak oil debate. Unlike the scientific quick sand that anthropogenic global climate change stands on, "peak oil" does appear to have a solid, if skewed, footing and there are lots of clear headed academics and people in the elites' highly educated "management class" who will never be swayed by those who simply say peak oil is a fraud, a big lie.

There's a similar problem with the anthropogenic climate change debate. IF human activities contribute in any way to alterations in climate patterns, scientists don't know how much that contribution might be within any reasonable levels of probability because the data has a very stochastic nature at this point and in all probability will remain so for a very long time given the vast periods of time climate flucuations have taken place and vast number of variables that would need to be factored in just to begin to develop reliable models. What we do KNOW is that, several decades ago, even before there were any signs of significant climate flucuations, TPTB were saying to each other in their various communications and white papers that future signs of climate change should be used to enact neoliberal policies and foster world government. If they were so concerned about a growing industrialized population causing environmental problems in the near future, then why did they shove the consumption accelerator pedal to the floor? Is the answer once again to [seemingly] create a problem in order to offer "the solution"? And, if TPTB can't create enough environmental chaos through their policies, then perhaps they can help it along with chemtrails, HAARP, "accidental" ruptures in massive underwater oil rigs, etc.

O.K. off to bed for me with a note of thanks to DB for the fascinating articles and points of view you have given us during this rather tumultuous year. Best wishes to DB staff and readers during the holiday season and in the new year ahead.

14,000 US deaths tied to Fukushima reactor fallout? So 14,000 US residents have gotten cancer due to Fukushima reactor fallout and died? Since March? What a joke.

The "researchers" coming up with these laughable statistics assume that there is no safe dose of radiation and that the dose-response relationship is linear. Both assumptions are false. Please see ch 22 of Jeffrey Tucker's book, Terrestrial Energy for more details.

While the International Journal of Health Services is spreading FUD about Fukushima radiation, 10s of thousands really are dying worldwide from mining coal and/or from respiratory illnesses related to breathing the fumes from burning coal.

Right there is an evident and obvious global superstructure, but you will ignore it in your misguided attempts to claim that top elites are "at war" with each other and that David Rockefeller wants to create universal sharia law.

Posted by LloydMiller on 12/22/11 12:20 AM

Someone said 'wherever the Saudis go, Rockefeller is sure to follow.' This was said when David Rockefeller donated megabucks in co-ordination with the Saudis to "study" at Harvard how Sharia might be integrated into Western legal sysems! No co-incidence that Harvard scholars published the landmark study alleging to show how Israel dominates the US Congress and US foreign policy (while Rockefeller/Saudi stooge Obama reverses the equation).

Are we to be surprised that the Rockefeller/Saudi faction, based as it is on natural resource control dating back to WWII, is opposed to the Judeo/Masonic/Anglophile faction that is based on the chimera of "money power?" THINK, FELLAS!

Rense and Prison Planet are some of the worst examples of how Elite Memes emanating from the Rockefeller/Saudi camarilla are passed-off in Conspiracy Land as anti-NWO propaganda. Nuclear power is a threat to the Rockefeller/Saudi camarilla which is based on the artificial shortage of energy imposed by government regulation of all energy including nuclear. The Rockefeller/Saudi camarilla is opposed to the traditional AngloSphere faction of the ruling class, what I have long prferred to call the Judeo/Masonic/Anglophile faction. If the Rockefeller/Saudi faction has its way, Western Civilization will be submerged in an Islam dominated New World Order thru the UN.
