Healthcare Reform Passes
Following months of heated public debate and aggressive closed-door negotiations, Congress finally cast a historic vote on healthcare late Sunday evening. It was truly a sad weekend on the House floor as we witnessed further dismantling of the Constitution, disregard of the will of the people, explosive expansion of the reach of government, unprecedented corporate favoritism, and the impending end of quality healthcare as we know it.
Those in favor of this bill touted their good intentions of ensuring quality healthcare for all Americans, as if those of us against the bill are against good medical care. They cite fanciful statistics of deficit reduction, while simultaneously planning to expand the already struggling medical welfare programs we currently have. They somehow think that healthcare in this country will be improved by swelling our welfare rolls and cutting reimbursement payments to doctors who are already losing money. It is estimated that thousands of doctors will be economically forced out of the profession should this government fuzzy math actually try to become healthcare reality. No one has thought to ask what good mandatory health insurance will be if people can't find a doctor.
Legislative hopes and dreams don't always stand up well against economic realities.
Frustratingly, this legislation does not deal at all with the real reasons access to healthcare is a struggle for so many – the astronomical costs. If tort reform was seriously discussed, if the massive regulatory burden on healthcare was reduced and reformed, if the free market was allowed to function and apply downward pressure on healthcare costs as it does with everything else, perhaps people wouldn't be so beholden to insurance companies in the first place. If costs were lowered, more people could simply pay for what they need out of pocket, as they were able to do before government got so involved. Instead, in the name of going after greedy insurance companies, the federal government is going to make people even more beholden to them by mandating that everyone buy their product! Hefty fines are due from anyone found to have committed the heinous crime of not being a customer of a health insurance company. We will need to hire some 16,500 new IRS agents to police compliance with all these new mandates and administer various fines. So in government terms, this is also a jobs bill. Never mind that this program is also likely to cost the private sector some 5 million jobs.
Of course, the most troubling aspect of this bill is that it is so blatantly unconstitutional and contrary to the ideals of liberty. Nowhere in the constitution is there anything approaching authority for the Federal government to do any of this. The founders would have been horrified at the idea of government forcing citizens to become consumers of a particular product from certain government approved companies. 38 states are said to already be preparing legal and constitutional challenges to this legislation, and if the courts stand by their oaths, they will win. Protecting the right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, should be the court's responsibility. Citizens have a responsibility over their own life, but they also have the liberty to choose how they will live and protect their lives. Healthcare choices are a part of liberty, another part that is being stripped away. Government interference in healthcare has already infringed on choices available to people, but rather than getting out of the way, it is entrenching itself, and its corporatist cronies, even more deeply.

Dear Mr. Paul,You are absolutely right. The medical system is a sham. I had an experience that illustrates this point perfectly.
Two years ago I became worried about a skin problem on my forehead. I'm fair and thought it might be cancer. I was in Westfield MA at the time. I called the nearby hospital who told me they never turn anyone away. I waited 2 hours in the main lobby, and was eventually shuffled into an examination room.
A nurse practitioner came in after a while, looked at my forehead (I wear bangs) from about 5 feet away, and said she would send me to a dermatologist. The whole experience took over 3 hours. I was sent a bill for $268.00.
I emailed a photo of my little blemish to my mother who told me to put a home remedy on it that worked in 3 days and cost me $6.00. I have never had medical insurance, had 3 children and never spent more than $8,000 in health care in total, including the deliveries, the broken arm, the stitched foot, and the cyst on my daughter's lip.
I despise the medical professional for allowing itself to be subverted, for forgetting its oath and pushing chemical lobotomies to unsuspecting citizens at the alarming rate they do, all for the almighty buck.
Mr. Obama obviously has ulterior motives different from those delineated in the Constitution, and his intentions are not for the good of the citizens of this country.
His blatant disregard for our present and future welfare, his clear intention to divest us of the precious rights and freedoms our fathers fought so hard to obtain and retain, the financial disaster he is creating for us speaks loudly.
He and his cronies must think we are deaf. Mr. Paul, I hope you run for President and rid us of this sad excuse for a head of state. But I fear for your safety, please take precautions. With respect and admiration ...

Drobezisi: No one should ever tire of "life'liberty and the pursuit of happiness"- when we stop doing that we will no longer have America!
Government is supposed to follow the will of the people -this administration did not follow the will of the people but they did promote more government and put most of the people on 'welfare'-that is not 'promote the general welfare' of the democrats-it's supposed to be for eveyone......

I wish to thank Dr Ron Paul for his integrity and willingness to stand up for freedom. There are not to many people doing that these days. May God bless you; and may God bless you too Mr Drobezisi. Thank you to the guys at The Daily Bell for you fantastic forum, it is currently my fav'site!

I take exception to Drobezisi's comment even as I write to applaud Ron Paul's statement.
We are all "self-appointed guardians" of the Constitution in a democracy, and I'm glad to join Mr. Paul in that role.
Incidentally, Drobezisi might find these documents interesting to read; the "refrain" that so tires him--"life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness"--actually comes from the Declaration of Independence.
Back in a time when the Constitution enabled slavery, it was only that "tired" refrain from the Declaration that was left to remind us of a better way.

The American Center for Law and Justice (Click to view link) is 100 agreeable to your statements Mr. Ron Paul. Advise your readers to follow and support the ACLJ's ensuing court battles to defeat this damaging new legislation of Obahmacare, (ObahmaDeath!) reform. We can all do something to crush this unholy policy.

It is almost an impossibility for me to understand the consequence of this legislation. However, I have learned this...the gov no longer has my back. In fact, my back is enhanced with a bull's eye that collects hits from the government that I thought would always protect my family, my neighbors and me. Without honest and forthright commentary from one of our remaining nation's heros (Yes, Dr. Paul for those who attended Harvard, Yale, or Princeton), I would simply not have sufficient information for proper decision making. Isn't it ironic that Dr. Paul is from the same area as Sam Houston?

I fully agree that the culprit, high medical costs from the AMA led industry, are not addressed and secondly much of the funding is unclear and seemingly delussional. Here in Calif. I guess we can IOU the docs new added medi-cal costs of this poorly designed bill.

I think actually you get me. A closed corporatocracy is by definition disqualified from the Constitutional governance of a country of sovereign citizens, and our "representatives" who are exempted (willingly or not) from the consequences are not in a qualified position to determine our healthcare needs and obligations one way or the other. It's why I attend to the blogs instead of the speeches. BTW, clear-eyed 12:14 oomment. I cosign your appreciation of Dr. Paul's constant efforts on the country's behalf.

Go Ron Paul!Truth is truth. The free market is a powerful force and denying it will not make it go away.
"Na¯ve trust in the power of words to command reality is found in all mass delusions."
"Delusions are states of refuge. The mind, unable to comprehend realities or deal with them, finds ease in superstition, beliefs and modes of irrational procedure. It is easier to believe than to think."

As much as I like much of what Ron says about the health care bill, I feel his presumption of knowing what the founding leaders of this country would believe in our present time is asinine.
Two hundred years ago we did not even have a Dental school in the USA. This is a world our founders probably never imagined and should Thomas Jefferson or Ben Franklin be teleported here from the past who knows what their reaction would be.

Much as I admire and respect Dr. Paul's reliable integrity, I would like to know (per Dr. Vieira's article yesterday) whether he has eschewed his own Congressional healthcare privilege before I consider what he has to say about healthcare for "the rest of us." (And the same for all Congressional commentators on the topic.)
Let me put it like this... As it were, in many states, to work for an employer past a certain, modest size, you have to take the insurance that state law forces them to provide. No employer which must do so according to law will let you work for them if it breaks the law. You can't refuse it. Try it some time and see how far you get with that. We live in a world of authoritarian rules that are to be obeyed.
Now, just imagine if Ron Paul tried to do something like that. For that matter, how you think Jake Towne (running for Congress out of PA) will fare among his peers (if he wins) with his platform of being paid according to the lowest earner in the state he represents? The powers that be do not want people to have that kind of admiration for their representatives in government. If this allowed, why, they might have to do it as well in order to get elected! And if they do, then they lose out on a lot of opportunity.
It's like this...Tobacco companies once went out of their way to convince people that they needed to smoke. A Congressman without health benefits? Some might call that self-defeated marketing. And when it comes to health insurance... Well, there is nothing closer, imo, to central banking than it. It's capital requirements are immense, but also "justifiable" because man is forever vulnerable and mortal. And if for no other reason to overlook his benefits, he uses paper FRNs just like the rest of us. What other choice has he?

"You know, it really becomes extremely tiring to hear this constant refrain of "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" from self-appointed guardians of the Constitution and interpreters of the Founding Fathers' will, who at the same time very conveniently and consistently ignore another significant goal of the same Founders: "to promote the general welfare".
Nothing in the Constitution says that the welfare of a free people means that the government must provide more than a system of courts, adequate representation, the defense of the nation's borders, restraint of government power, and the stability of the nation's money. The founders clearly did not set out to create a society where people depend on or suffer from the powers of government in order to provide more than that. Every free person is entitled to a just system of courts, adequate representation in government, protected borders, and a sound monetary policy. ie, Things which benefit all individuals universally, without anyone having any more to gain or lose from what it is provided.
And who is the one benefiting in this "health" deal? It's not even the people that it's supposedly going to help. It's the insurance companies. They want the government to give to them more than the free market will allow them. It most certainly will come at the expense of the doctors. It will most certainly come at the expense of jobs, especially at the margin, which are the people most vulnerable.
It will come at the expense of the nation's currency and credit (or whatever might remain of them). It will certainly come at the cost of living for more people, while making life easier for some minority. It's a bailout for yet another financial interest. If you're too naive to see that... Well, in time you will, and may the "invisible" hand never let you forget the lesson learned!

The health care bill has nothing to do with health care. It is a bill that eventually leads toward a government single payer and government controlled health care and rationing. Thanks for the likes of Ron Paul, Rush Limbaugh, and others which have exposed this bill for what it really Click to view linkernment control, government bureaucracy, and infringement in the lives of its citizens.

The federal government can afford these increasing expenditures simply because it prints ever increasing avalanches of fiat money. No businessman is going to buy insurance for his employees when fixed fee (fine?) can be paid to the IRS.
No one really believes Medicare is going to be stripped of 500 billion. No one believes doctors are going to be paid less than their costs. Costs will be gigantic, taxes cannot be raised to cover it, and the collapse will come sooner rather than later.
Only then will the fools see the folly of their prolifigacy and the Wisdom of Ron Paul. As for me, I'll not invest a dime in the USA. I know my sentiments are echoed by millions of the productive class.

Two issues with this "health care" bill. First, if we had HEALTH, how much HEALTH CARE would we really need, except for accident trauma.
The same global elite who are forcing health care on us are also making sure our food water and air is poisoned, and that we get our vaccinations and anti depressant drugs, all of which destroy our health. Then they can posit their poisonous petro-based health care drugs to "control the diseases" (problem-reaction-solution).
And once they have extracted our wealth via premiums, fines, taxes and fees, they can withhold treatment and be rid of us since we are of no more use to the collective. Fortunately, people are beginning to see through the scam, thanks to alternative news sources like the Daily Bell.
Second point: From all the information I have gathered, it seems this health care issue is part of the much larger "Agenda 21" being pushed by the U.N. For those not familiar with "Agenda 21 - Sustainable Development", a little searching on the Internet should provide quite a lot of information (Click to view link resulted in 147 million hits).
An informed populace is anathma to the elite. Secrecy, false flags and double speak have been their primary successful tactics for centuries to induce fear and submission of people to the security (police) state. That tactic appears to be loosing its effectiveness as the knowledge spreads. Here are some quotes that seem apt today:"The individual is handicapped by coming face-to-face with a conspiracy so monstrous he cannot believe it exists.
The American mind simply has not come to a realization of the evil which has been introduced into our midst. It rejects even the assumption that human creatures could espouse a philosophy which must ultimately destroy all that is good and decent."-- J. Edgar Hoover in The Elks Magazine (August 1956)"Educate and inform the whole mass of the people... They are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty."-- Thomas Jefferson "Knowledge is power."-- Sir Francis Bacon

Thankyou, Dr. Paul.
You are AGAIN, correct. You seem to be the only one who REALLY sees the system the way it truly is. I would like to know if the entire Federal Govt. is held to this new health care reform. Or is it just something for us little people who are viewed as slaves to an illegal govt.
They take an oath to uphold the "Constitution of The United States", and then they go into office and proceed to tear it apart. Piece by piece.
And of course, the courts back up the criminal behavior, as well as take part in it!! And Ron Paul seems to be the only one who is brave enough to stand up and say the truth for what it is, and does so in countless areas.
My advice to my fellow Americans is to throw out your televisions and find the truth and the real news from alternative sources, lest your brain be fried by the new "digitally" delivered main stream news propaganda.
The Bell, here is a FINE publication. I just found it a few days ago, and it is now how I really find out what is going on in my own country, and world views that make common sense.
Thank you, "The Bell"!
You know, from the polls that were taken from the voters after they voted, the overwhelming response was for Ron Paul in the primaries. The "Cowards That Be", just switch numbers on computers and ballots are lost, thrown out, districts are temporarily changed, and entire areas of minority voters never had a chance to even really cast a vote. The question to ask yourself is, "Who is REALLY pulling the strings in this land of the free and the home of the brave?
