And Then There Was 'Thrive' ...
We have written about "Thrive," the movie, which just made its debut. Sure enough, our skepticism seems warranted. In fact, we'll be very blunt. The power elite (that wants to take over the world in our opinion) fights back against alternative media memes with exceptional fierceness. They do so by using three methodologies.
1) They create false websites that discredit free-market thinking and ridicule market-based solutions to current problems, including Austrian Economics.
2) Many faux websites (not all, by the way) place free-market solutions side-by-side with articles about space aliens, UFOs and other unproven phenomenon. Some of this may have be newsworthy and thought-provoking, but for the middle-class "intelligentsia" it is likely to prove a turnoff.
3) Other faux websites practice the "limited hangout" approach – wherein they present the world's reality in such detail and in such gruesome terms that it only inspires hopelessness, which turns into lack of social or personal "human action."
A hypothesis (admittedly we have not seen the movie): It seems to fall into the second category. That is, it pretends to be an examination of the power elite but it conflates this power-elite analysis with an "alien code." This does two things. For many people it makes the movie a kind of "crackpot" endeavor (and we note they've gone out of their way to include many prominent free-market thinkers in their narrative). Second, it doesn't apparently produce any real solutions, inspiring helplessness and fear rather than inspiration or education.
Here is what we wrote way back on October 12, 2011:
And then there is something called Thrive, brought to us by ... Foster Gamble. On November 11, Thrive will unveil a documentary about a new energy source. Here's what the religious website "Fanatics for Jesus" had to say about Thrive:
Foster Gamble, heir to the Procter and Gamble fortune, is part of a disinformation campaign to lure in the unsuspecting. The planned air date: 11/11/11, should be a red flag to anyone knowing anything about numerology – a tool used by the occult. The message? There is an ancient code imbedded into arts and icon throughout the centuries that will provide a way to save our planet. The code happens to come from extraterrestrials. The suppression of the UFO phenomena is the suppression of free energy. Should we be surprised?
In this movie trailer, it's a Who's Who New Age line-up – all plugging a planet in distress in need of a solution, and the need to use any and all information being covered up – including full disclosure. Note that Bill Still, a professing Christian, has given his permission to be part of this production – another red flag. Interviews in the Thrive movie are with: Duane Elgin, Nassim Haramein, Steven Greer, Jack Kasher, Daniel Sheehan, Adam Trombly, Brian O'Leary, Vandana Shiva, John Gatto, John Robbins, Deepak Chopra, David Icke, Catherine Austin Fitts, G. Edward Griffin, Bill Still, John Perkins, Paul Hawken, Aqeela Sherrills, Evon Peter, Angel Kyodo Williams, Elisabet Sahtouris, Amy Goodman, and Barbara Marx Hubbard.
Here's a press release from the producers of "Thrive":
THRIVE is an unconventional documentary that lifts the veil on what's REALLY going on in our world by following the money upstream – uncovering the global consolidation of power in nearly every aspect of our lives. Weaving together breakthroughs in science, consciousness and activism, THRIVE offers real solutions, empowering us with unprecedented and bold strategies for reclaiming our lives and our future ...
Is this really the best we can do? Did the universe labor for nearly 14 billion years only to bring forth a species that would end up as an enemy to life itself, and to its own Home? We don't think so. Like so many of you, we have spent nearly a lifetime trying to figure out what happened – what is happening that could account for the staggering agony and deprivation on this planet.
Our research led us to places we never expected to go, revealing surprising discoveries that seemed unrelated at first, but which turned out to be crucially connected, as you'll see.
We came across a code – a pattern in nature that's been embedded in arts and icons throughout the centuries. We believe this code holds the key to a new source of clean, sustainable energy that could completely revolutionize the way all people live ...
Thrive also makes use the elite's dominant social theme we've already identified in past articles. You can read some stories we've written about this elite dominant social theme here:

"... when it comes to central banking. It might be the kind of theatrics needed to wake up a bunch of folks"

... or to associate folks who oppose central banking with aliens-are-real crowd? Maybe Krugman was on to something, eh?

Actually, Mises and libertarianism are highlights at the end of the movie

If DB has an automated spambox (I quoted other users comments about the movie and their wording might have been too strong), is it possible to get it out of the spambox and post it minus the F-words and such?

Perhaps we should have been clearer about having NOT seen it yet.
I'm really hoping you will be pleasantly surprised when you do watch it fully.I'm sure your whirling dervish elf brain cells will find a few things to punch holes in and I welcome your opinions. I'm actually glad to hear you you haven't watched it in total since I was thinking about your reactions while watching the movie and was disappointed in your reaction above. I realize I still may well be, but there's always hope for you LOL!

And it's not a conflation just because there are different topics and huge diversity and versatility...
Non sequitur!

If there are aliens they probably won't get this far. Their own power elite will do to them what our's is doing to us.

"The move "Thrive" falls into the second category. It pretends to be an examination of the power elite but it conflates this power-elite analysis with an "alien code." This does two things. For many people it makes the movie a kind of "crackpot" endeavor (and we note they've gone out of their way to include many prominent free-market thinkers in their narrative). Second, it doesn't apparently produce any real solutions, inspiring helplessness and fear rather than inspiration or education."
The critique of the federal reserve, GMO, etc., is not invalidated just because the movie's narrative also talks about crop circles extraterrestrials and free energy. That is not a conflation but an association with the movie which is a separate component. That is a non-sequitur and logical fallacy DB makes here.
The truth that the FED is a privately owned bank fx. has nothing to do with the premise that aliens might be visiting earth (who knows?)and both can stand alone and unrelated to each other in the movie. I think that DB is too fast in their hip-shot-gun reflexes here.
But if the movie is a PSYOPS then it CAN be interpreted as a poison-the-well tactique or guilt by association (because of UFO-theories, etc) in order to sway the average middleclass mentality's receptivity away from the other more down-to-earth critiques (the FED, GMO, etc.)
It CAN also be seen as huge versatility and diversity of topics on the part of the director who apparently tried to encapsulate many topics in the movie because he thought is was relevant to get a broad spectrum of topics whose common denominator is suppression of postulated truths and can also be seen as an attempt to suspend disbeliefs and thus keep a very open mind (the type of mind that is required in order to realize that the official 9/11 explanation is full of huge anomalies fx.)
Look at how the often overly 'conpiranoid' (an expression of mine that I invented; not derogatory per se) people shoots contradictory statements about the movie at GLP (btw; good bulletin board if one can filtrate the useful from the complete drudgery, mayhem, too-far-out. NB! GlP is heavily datamined though, probably by DoD disinformants and other agencies):
"1. The movie advocates individualism and the return to localization. This is clearly a collectivist commie film.
2. It advocates the abolishment of central banking and shows people how the global monetary system works, something that 90% of the general public has not one clue about. It's clearly a new age, propaganda, UN film, pushing the NWO.
3. It pushed the fact that cures for disease and solutions to our energy problems have been not only stifled but violently opposed by the Government agencies working for the energy cartels in partnership with the moneyed elite. If you haven't figured it out, this means its a collectivist, new age, commie, hippie libtard movie.
4. It unmasks the carbon tax scheme as a trillion dollar fraud operation and advocated people oppose any and all global taxes, regardless of proposed reasoning. Which is a clear indicator to me, and many other GLP arm-chair quaterbacks, that what we're dealing with here is collectivist, UN, new age, environmentalist Nazi's who must be destroyed.
5. It helps illustrate the fact that the reason people do not wake up to the well documented agenda of the elite of this planet to enslave then slaughter us all, is because they fear how they will be viewed for stepping out of the mainstream's view of normal. Which quite blatantly shows what a load of collectivist, commie, non-sense the entire film is.
Oh, and did I mention they actually charge for spending years making a film involving hundreds of people, comprising many tens of thousands of work, which must have cost if not hundreds of thousands but millions of dollars to make? Yah, clearly a NWO, commie, collectivist shill fest meant to enslave you"

"And threads like this prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that GLP has a serious infection of useful idiots, paid disinformation agents, the bluntly ignorant, and some of the worst group think followers that can be found on the internet.
What's worse than the useful idiots and paid disinformation agents, are the ignorant, group think followers who get off fitting in with the GLP "in crowd", doing their part to blindly follow what ever the GLP party line is. Let me find a majority and fit right they think. I would hate to have to examine something for myself, and then draw my own conclusion, a bunch of arm-chair quarterbacks who have never done anything for humanity can formulate my opinion for me.
First, the thread is started by someone who opens with a far reaching, completely erroneous, and slanderous comment. No supporting evidence, no indication (either overtly, or by presentation of information contained within) that they even bothered to watch the film.
Followed closely by "yah, it's odd", then "oh yah it should have been free. Damn those OWS people who want lower costs of living, and no bailouts for people, they should work for their money. But when someone spends years involving hundreds of people, probably traveling to many places around the world, they should do it for free. In fact, anyone trying to spread information and open peoples eyes to new ways of thinking should do it for free, but me, I won't work unless it's minimum wage at least."
Then move on to more incorrect, patently false accusations like "It looks like another environmental film sponsored by the UN", when that's not even what the film is about. Of course, the same poster doesn't wait long and gets his last post, first page position, to link the green agenda trying to create a relationship between the two for the ignorant group think followers that inhabit this forum.
Of course, we again didn't have to wait long before constitution with a bible on it avatar was back to share more wonderful words of wisdom, "environmental, new age, gaia, UN" is all he saw, he adds for anyone without working eyes, ears and brains. Something he apparently lacks himself, since he again apparently hasn't watched the film.
For those who partake in this behavior as useful idiots or paid disinformation agents, I pity you beyond anyone else. For the rest, who are just to ignorant and can't stand doing anything but participating in group think, you guys remind me of religious zealots, who act on faith alone, that the GLP gods have carefully packaged the appropriate opinion for you, and you'll be safe in harboring. You're disgusting.
Remember folks, don't get caught up in discussing the widely available, heavily documented, easily provable facts discussed in the film, instead use adhominen attacks of the film maker, and throw unfavorable labels all over the film itself, so the brain dead know exactly where to place their opinion, and have clever names to call it when they repeat the opinion you've helped manufacture.
Some day you idiots are going to look back on what you've done to further the destruction of humanity, and the installation of a global totalitarian police state, and you'll be forced to reconcile the fact that you my friend, are a fu---ng idiot."

Mostly, I agree. There's a lot in it that seems, let's say "far fetched". But, I'm not willing to rule ANYTHING out at this point. Once you get past the aliens are coming part, there's a lot of valid information, especially when it comes to central banking. It might be the kind of theatrics needed to wake up a bunch of folks.

"Second, it doesn't apparently produce any real solutions, inspiring helplessness and fear rather than inspiration or education."
I didn't have that reaction at all. I read from many alternative news sources and the DB is one of them.I like to view diversity of opinion and I found Thrive interesting and compelling. There are many people who are open minded to extraterrestrial presence. Healing the planet and our current corrupt system ( I love the "Tapeworm Economy" term coined by Catherine Austin Fitts)is not going to happen by one way or one group. Thrive feels like the other end to the spectrum that's needed to create a conversation between different beliefs, and in my opinion it's very necessary.

Perhaps we should have been clearer about having NOT seen it yet. We are simply focusing on what we've analyzed about such things in the past and applying them to what seems to be a predictable elite meme. Given the amount of information about the power elite on the Internet, it seems to us that they begin providing a kind of "limited hangout" and this would seem to be it, or one strategy anyway ...
