What If Democracy Is Bunk?
What if you are only allowed to vote because it doesn't make a difference? What if no matter how you vote, the elites get to have it their way? What if "one person, one vote" is just a fiction created by the government to induce your compliance? What if democracy is dangerous to personal freedom? What if democracy erodes the people's understanding of natural rights and the foundations of government, and instead turns elections into beauty contests?
What if democracy allows the government to do anything it wants, as long as more people bother to show up at the voting booth to support it than to oppose it? What if the purpose of democracy is to convince people that they could prosper not through the creation of wealth but through theft from others? What if the only moral way to acquire wealth – aside from inheritance – is through voluntary economic activity? What if the government persuaded you that you could acquire wealth through political activity? What if economic activity included all the productive and peaceful things we do? What if political activity included all the parasitical and destructive things the government does?
What if governments were originally established to protect people's freedom, but always turn into political and imperialist enterprises that seek to expand their power, increase their territory and heighten their control of the population? What if the idea that we need a government to take care of us is actually a fiction? What if our strength as individuals and durability as a culture are contingent not on the strength of the government but on the amount of freedom we have from the government?
What if we're seeing civil unrest around the world precisely because government is out of control? What if the cocktail of big government and democracy brings dependence and destruction? What if big government destroys people's motivations and democracy convinces them that the only motivation they need is to vote and go along with whatever the government does?
What if the Republican primaries we're seeing unfold aren't actually as democratic as they may appear to be? What if the results you have seen from the states that have voted thus far don't match the composition of the delegates those states send to the Tampa convention this summer because the polls aren't what counts, but what counts are the secret meetings that come after the voting? What if Joe Stalin was right when he said the most powerful person in the world is the guy who counts the votes?
What if the greatest tyrant in history lives among us? What if that tyrant always gets its way, no matter what the laws are or what the Constitution says? What if that tyrant is the majority of voters? What if the tyranny of the majority in a democracy recognizes no limits on its power?
What if the government misinforms voters so as to justify anything the government wants to do? What if the government bribes people with the money it prints? What if it gives entitlements to the poor, tax breaks to the middle class and bailouts to the rich just to keep all of us dependent upon it? What if a vibrant republic requires not just the democratic process of voting, but also informed and engaged voters who understand first principles of limited government and free-market economics, and the divine origin of natural rights?
What if we could free ourselves from the yoke of big government through a campaign of education and information and personal courage that leads to a revolutionary return to first principles? What if the establishment doesn't want this? What if the government remains the same no matter who wins elections?
What if because of Ron Paul's presidential campaign, because he isn't campaigning just for votes as his competition is, because he is educating the population and winning the hearts and minds of a once free people and inspiring them to fight for their freedom once more, freedom wins? What if we can be free again? What will it take to make that happen?

Judge - Please... the "What if" style is getting "old." It was OK on TV sometimes. But all the time?

What I already know IS boring. I asked for trolls because they futilely attempt to define "alternatate interpretations", at odds with physical reality and evidence. My task is to subvert them, from the inside, to make them admit "resistance is futile", they will be assimilated and their technological, intellectual, individual and cultural diversity will be added to mine.
Some will turn and add to the flood of irrefutable evidence, steepening the exponential of freedom's win (again, for the same reasons as every time in history when push comes to shove between tyranny and collective survival).

"trackable receipt idea would make TPTB scramble"
hardly. Tracking would be done by "their" systems, and, they would also get paid for the "service", to boot. If, by some miracle, such an (honest) system came into existance, it would only remain unsubverted (bribes / blackmail / threats) long enoug to build the habit of public trust (lack of vigilence) and then, "business as usual"
The illusion of "consent of the governed" is the only thing the system has going for it. It is extremely valuable to elites. Nobody seems to ponder that the "governed" do not have the power to be "criminals" and therefore NO ABILITY to pass this proxy "power" on to our rulers (slavers).

In reality, I've been a wee bit disingenious, Ross ;-D! I haven't believed my vote actually mattered for years and am only 'campaigning' for Ron Paul to draw attention to his message. Due to my involvement lately in 'politics' I just had this subversive little thought (and perhaps still a lingering hope of actually having my vote matter) that my trackable receipt idea would make TPTB scramble, and have to work harder at their deception...
thanks for the discussion...

"How can we know"
That is the point. We cannot, so long as central control of top down, forceful hiarchical systems of compulsive organization exist. The natural, and only workable "order" is bottom up, as proven in my last link which is how we were consually, ad-hoc (as opposed to coercively) socially / economically organized a century+ ago, before technology presented an opportunity for the failed central control gambit by predators / slavers.
IMHO, it is just a waste of time to attempt to solve insoluble problems such as this (vote integrity in large systems) for the simple reason that the system is already finished, it is just too stupid and unaware to notice that the hemorages are fatal, no blood is available for transfusion and, large enough bandaids cannot be contructed to hide the wounds.
Grab some popcorn and a comfy chair and watch the divine comedy unfold and, if so inclined, do as I do and nudge it in the direction it cannot, by its nature avoid going. The point is to compress the pain in time, to hasten the time when it is generally acknowleged that "reality is unavoidable" and we choose to be the peaceful, consensual, division of labor (as opposed to spoils), civilized people we are, by nature.

... don't place your "hope" in others, nor "predictions" of the future. What YOU do or, do not do in the "here and NOW" are actions which will have consequences defining future state of affairs.
Nothing ELSE is "REAL":

Thanks, I see your point, Ross. I've visited your web site a few years ago, when I first started reading the DB and do not remember this vote issue addressed -- did I miss something there? If so I apologize for this follow up question:
Our vote always slips out of our direct ability to monitor personally. How do we maintain vigilance over our vote when these small communities (whom we have personally watched like hawks for accuracy on a local level)send in the results to central committees for the next step in tabulation? That is the issue I had hoped a system of internet tracking (maybe with a pin for access) would solve. If this is not secure as you insist, how do we actually remain vigilent? How can we know (or what can we do to be sure) if our vote has been accurately counted?

It is a deception.

What if democracy is just another example of the failure of another man made system? What if the USA is no better than all the civilizations before her and that she is destine to the same end? What if that's just the natural process for all societies?

"tax eaters", with no other option, as you state, are indeed "part of the solution". The more the merrier. Their unproductive attrition costs just hasten the inevitable day when the "cupboard is bare" (stored wealth of thousands of years of civilization, frittered away, wasted), and the system collapses by the weight of its own absurdities:

... and, we, as individuals, cast adrift in a sea of other individuals, faced with the equality of impoverishment and survival imperative, may again have to honestly deal with the concept of "common interest", or, be prey to armed remnants of the state (bullies, unfettered by no longer having to maintain illusion of "consent of the governed"), gone "rogue".

I do have to say I love the Judge and hope if Ron Paul does win the election that the Judge has a place in his adminstration.
I visit several sites daily and many times read feedbackers that recommend people who "support the system" by virtue of the fact that they are employed in some form of government at the local, state or national level. So let's play the Judges "what if"
- what if you were active duty military for 23 years faithly defending (as you thought) the constitution
- what if you discovered you skill sets didn't really translate to the civilian private sector and you found employment as a civil servant
- what if due to down-sizing or off-shoring of private sector jobs you couldn't find something in the private sector even if you wanted
- what if you have two kids in college and a mortgage
- what if you work daily in the "belly of the beast" and know the real game
- what if you do what you can to support the cause of liberty, freedom, self-reliance instilling in your children personal responsibility and non-reliance on the government and educating them on how the world really works

"and I'm sure the more tech savvy here will school me if so. "
anything that slips the tracking of your personal awareness, for even an instant is subject to manipulation and fraud. Your book could, without your knowledge, be diverted to India, see if it passes censorship, as "approved knowlege" and the "offending passages" expunged, shipping you an re-manufactured product, programming you, if you believe. Without a standard "reference of truth" to compare, you would be none the wiser.
which is why, we need small ad-hoc, decentraized communities of common interest, so we can watch the predators, like hawks and deal with them before their cumulative "proceeds of crime" makes them too powerful, collapsing civilization (peaceful, honest trade for MUTUAL self-interest). This is what the founders meany by "vigilence".

Very good, NAPpy. But what do you mean by "passive aggression" in this context? Would you agree with the definition by Wiki?
"according to views such as Conflict theory or Marxist philosophy, so-called passive-aggressive behavior could be a rational response to demands that may simply be disagreed with, for example if intended to exploit the individual, and yet where there is no possible or legitimate means of active resistance. It has also been noted that Passive resistance has a dignified history, including Irish dissidents, Quakers and Gandhi. The passive-aggressive concept was developed by the US military to describe soldiers who would not obey instructions happily."

I find it sadly hilarious that I can track the whereabouts of the last book I ordered at Amazon, but not my VOTE... it would seem to be sooo easy to make this transparent, it's called a trackable receipt.
Maybe I'm just too simplistic... and I'm sure the more tech savvy here will school me if so.

The judge should just state facts instead of trying to be creative by asking questions when he know the answers.
The republication canadates are obviously chosen to lose the race, expect for Paul they are all blatant hipicrical liers.

Just did a fast search on the Canton Movement. Sounds like it's what we, collectively, should be considering. Appears to be highly humane as differentiated from the force and coercive system into which we are born.
