UN Sets for Space Aliens
By Staff News & Analysis - September 28, 2010

UN 'to appoint space ambassador to greet alien visitors' … A space ambassador could be appointed by the United Nations to act as the first point of contact for aliens trying to communicate with Earth. … Mazlan Othman, a Malaysian astrophysicist, is set to be tasked with co-ordinating humanity's response if and when extraterrestrials make contact. Aliens who landed on earth and asked: "Take me to your leader" would be directed to Mrs. Othman … She will set out the details of her proposed new role at a Royal Society conference in Buckinghamshire next week. The 58-year-old is expected to tell delegates that the proposal has been prompted by the recent discovery of hundreds of planets orbiting other starts, which is thought to make the discovery of extraterrestrial life more probable than ever before. Mrs Othman is currently head of the UN's little known Office for Outer Space Affairs (Unoosa). – UK Telegraph

Dominant Social Theme: The aliens are coming. Only the UN can save us.

Free-Market Analysis: We really do think we see signs of an elite fear-based promotion having to do with space aliens. In fact, we've already broached this idea in the fairly recent past. But this article excerpted above (and since tepidly denied by Ms Othman) brings the subject up again. Seem wacky? After the insanity of global warming we have realized that the arrogance of the elite (or its growing desperation) knows no boundaries. Another variant of this dominant social theme: Thank goodness we have brave bureaucracies and staunch leaders in charge of them. The US president himself will fly a jet fighter into the belly of the mothership destroying evil and creating Peace For All."

The space alien promotion, if that is what it is, has been a long time aborning. Fabian HG Wells was one of the founders of the science fiction genre that has deluged the world for nearly a century with grim and fanciful speculations regarding various kinds of alien interactions. Laurance Rockefeller famously funded various alien think tanks and presented "top secret" reports to Bill Clinton's White House. And now we have the UN appointing a space alien ambassador.

In fact, a space alien promotion makes sense if it could be pulled off. The power elite behind these themes functions best when such are divorced from reality. The problem for instance with the global warming meme is that the weather itself keeps interfering. The problem with central banking is that it keeps smacking up against the reality of the marketplace.

This is one reason that war is often held as "the health of the state." War is the best kind of promotion for the elite because there is no reality to combat. Enemies can be made up out of whole cloth and the fight or flight instincts of human beings can be engaged without much difficulty. Since the enemy or enemies can be conveniently manufactured (the other side playing a similar game), the potential for the promotion to unravel is relatively marginal.

We don't know how a space alien promotion would actually play out. But it has much to recommend it. A landing would be relatively easy to fake and the resultant furor would blot out any inconsistencies. The mainstream media would go berserk and politicians appearing on television to attest to the reality of the event would provide additional credibility.

Western populations have been heavily conditioned by a century of science fiction to accept the reality of alien contact. This sort of conditioning has primed people to expect certain kinds of aliens with certain physiques and appearances. Certainly, if the contact was to be faked, the various elements are easily available. The technology necessary to create and animate alien constructs has been growing steadily more sophisticated.

One can only imagine the impact such a promotion. Assuming the aliens "came in peace," the world would be warned that only global governance was feasible within the "new reality." The aliens, like the earth-based elite, needed to deal with a human species speaking with one voice. The result would tend to unify authorities at the highest level. Ms Othman, despite throwing cold-water on the initial story, seems to agree.

The continued search for extraterrestrial communication… sustains the hope that someday humankind will receive signals from extraterrestrials," The Australian quoted Othman as saying. "When we do, we should have in place a co-ordinated response that takes into account all the sensitivities related to the subject. The UN is a ready-made mechanism for such co-ordination."

After Thoughts

What a promotion it would be! A global currency could emerge out of it along with a hierarchical world government. Even portions of the Internet would be co-opted as the Internet is filled with alien sightings and abductions. But in fact, portions of the Internet would remain highly skeptical and the debunking drumbeat would begin almost immediately. This is the elite's problem. No matter how mighty the dream, the Internet interferes.
