Humans emit carbon dioxide when they breathe. So do animals. Plants tend to emit oxygen. Thus both flora and fauna are necessary to the cyclical emission of life gases.
It has been estimated that humans emit some 2.5 billion tons of CO2 per year. This is unfortunate, as some believe that CO2 is causing global warming (or at least climate change) and that CO2 needs to be removed from the atmosphere as it is trapping sunlight and warmth close to the earth, thus causing the world to heat up, melt polar ice caps, etc. Or perhaps this process is causing the world to become cooler. It is never quite clear. But what is certain is that it is the fault of human beings.
Of course, there are alternative explanations. Reasonable people point out that most heat is trapped by atmospheric humidity – water vapor – about 95 percent, in fact; thus CO2 is a fairly negligible component of the heat-trapping environment.
But proponents of global warming (or climate change) have a ready answer. What goes on in the atmosphere is "normal." It is the negligible, itty-bitty additional "man-made" carbon that is doing all the damage. Everything would be fine but it is what human beings are producing now as a result of the industrial revolution, etc., that has caused the disaster-in-the-making.
There is no accounting for fanaticism. Even in the face of perfectly reasonable evidence that the world may be cooling rather than warming, global warming fanatics insist that human beings are ruining their environment, causing sea levels to rise, etc. The only solution is to do away with industry and go back to living in a sustainable way without creating CO2 pollution.
It is, in fact, a sad commentary on modern life that one of the most fundamental gasses in the chemistry of life has come under attack as a pollutant. Not only is it unreasonable; it is actually absurd. Kafka would no doubt write a story about it were he alive today.
The threat of CO2 spoiling the environment is nothing more than a fear-based dominant social theme designed by the power elite to further centralize control over human society and all its functions. It is a hoax of monumental proportions and the only thing more astonishing than its establishment is the arrogance of those who thought to promote the idea in the first place.
