Peter Schiff Explains the Free Market to Occupy Wall Street

Peter Schiff received a great deal of publicity this week for descending into the mayhem of Occupy Wall Street in New York to discuss the demands of OWS protestors – demands that are apparently not being presented to the world because in actuality they seem in aggregate to constitute a warmed-over socialist platform dredged up from past battles of the 20th century.

It is perfectly possible that OWS may still turn into a genuine freedom movement, joining hands with the libertarian elements of the Tea Party. (Yes, they still exist and are likely stronger than ever). But Schiff's discussions with the current batch of OWS protestors shows us that the movement is far from being free-market oriented or even based on economic literacy at all.

Without the Internet we would be exposed to none of this. The elite-manipulated OWS would have been treated as "the real thing" rather than the false-flag event it was set up to be. But thanks to the Internet and the 'Net blogosphere in general, OWS and its self-appointed leaders are being gradually exposed for what they are. And maybe OWS therefore has a chance to grow into a true people's movement instead of the other side of a controlled, elite-inspired Hegelian dialect.
