Phony Depression Brought by Elites … Is the world doomed to suffer another Depression? The West is staring into an economic abyss deepened by political paralysis in the US and … Is there any good news? Europe is in disarray, stock markets are plunging, the banking crisis is back in full swing, gold is at record levels, and both the UK and US are self-evidently slipping back towards recession – not since the autumn of 2008 have things looked quite so ominous. We appear to be at another pivotal moment, with Western economies once more staring into the abyss. – UK Telegraph

End of Free Speech as the West Knows It … Free speech is in retreat throughout the West Politics … There’s a sizzling piece by Mark Steyn in the current issue of National Review, which reveals quite how far democracies have gone in restricting free speech. Free speech is in retreat throughout the West. Citing, among many, the example of a musician on the Isle of Wight who was charged with racism after performing Kung Fu Fighting in the hearing of a Chinese couple, he makes the point that it is no longer possible to infer the legal status of words from the words themselves: “There were funky Chinamen from funky Chinatown” is legal or illegal according to whosoever happens to hear it. – UK Telegraph / Daniel Hannan

FBI Anthrax Cover UP? … Sen. Charles Grassley of Iowa, who has long questioned the legitimacy of the FBI’s findings in the case, wrote Attorney General Eric Holder and FBI Director Robert Mueller this week, regarding a filing by Justice Department civil lawyers in July that noted that the Army’s biodefense center at Fort Detrick, Md., “did not have the specialized equipment in a containment laboratory that would be required to prepare the dried spore preparations that were used in the letters.” In other words, the filing noted that Ivins’ lab, often referred to as the “hot suite”, did not contain the equipment needed to turn liquid anthrax into the refined powder that ended up being mailed to members of the Senate and reporters in the fall of 2001. Ivins, who was found dead in 2008 from an apparent suicide at the same time the government was about to indict him, was identified by the FBI’s “Amerithrax Task Force” as the lone perpetrator of the attacks that killed five people and infected 17 others in the weeks immediately following 9/11. – Infowars

Phony Depression Brought by Elites

Is the world doomed to suffer another Depression? The West is staring into an economic abyss deepened by political paralysis in the US and … Is there any good news? Dominant Social Theme: It’s horrible. It’s just terrible. There’s nothing we can do. We’re freakin’ doomed.

Free-Market Analysis: Josef Ackermann, chief executive of Deutsche Bank recently compared the current economic mess to what happened after Lehman Brothers went broke in 2008. He indicated that many European banks are under water (as we just mentioned again yesterday) and could not survive an additional crisis; another prominent banker was recently quoted as saying the present cocktail of negatives was “much more dramatic than 2008.”

What strikes us as somewhat humorous, however (in a grim way), is that all this talk of crisis is aimed at manmade systems. The entire economic environment in Europe and America is one that has been purposefully built to create booms and busts. It is a central banking economy that uses commercial banks – the ones that people are so worried about – to disseminate phony money that inevitably ends up with price inflation and several times each century with horrific economic environments that approach that of the Great Depression.

One can sound the alarm all one wants to. But increasingly it is difficult to avoid the conclusion that the West’s – and the world’s – economy has been built to create the very crises that are now approaching. Inevitably, the solution suggested is further consolidation. Thus globalism advances and thrives, the product of a perverse central banking system that does not need to exist, and should not exist.

End of Free Speech as the West Knows It

Free speech is in retreat throughout the West Politics … There’s a sizzling piece by Mark Steyn in the current issue of National Review, which reveals quite how far democracies have gone in restricting free speech. Free speech is in retreat throughout the West. Dominant Social Theme: Give up the ship. The elites control all media, and what they don’t control is increasingly illegal

Free-Market Analysis: We understand why people would bemoan the growing lack of free speech around the world and especially in the West. It is another phenomenon that the mainstream press will explain is simply – somehow – serendipity, the product of the war on terror and humankind’s innate instinct toward censorship.

But we see it differently. In all ways it looks to us that the power elite is driving authoritarian measures forward around the world. As each of their most important dominant social themes begin to fail, at least a little, the elites turn more and more toward authoritarianism. This involves fighting what DB calls the Internet Reformation with increasingly bizarre laws, a growing secret penal system and various kinds of repressions, including attacks on the freedom of expression.

At the same time, one could make an argument that the growth of the Internet Reformation has made free speech increasingly ubiquitous around the world. Even as the power elite attempts to squelch free-speech through censorship and incarceration, there is a rising tide of conversation about liberty that may well overwhelm any attempts to repel or control it.

FBI Anthrax Cover UP?

Senator Demands Answers On Government Anthrax Investigation Mystery … Sen. Charles Grassley of Iowa, who has long questioned the legitimacy of the FBI’s findings in the case, wrote Attorney General Eric Holder and FBI Director Robert Mueller this week, regarding a filing by Justice Department civil lawyers in July that noted that the Army’s biodefense center at Fort Detrick, Md., “did not have the specialized equipment in a containment laboratory that would be required to prepare the dried spore preparations that were used in the letters.” In other words, the filing noted that Ivins’ lab, often referred to as the “hot suite,” did not contain the equipment needed to turn liquid anthrax into the refined powder that ended up being mailed to members of the Senate and reporters in the fall of 2001. Dominant Social Theme: The FBI has been created to protect the freedoms that Americans hold dear and any problems along the way must be seen as collateral damage.

Free-Market Analysis: There is, in fact, increasing collateral damage when it comes to major FBI cases. As we’ve mentioned before, there are literally hundreds of witnesses who saw numerous shooters and bombers during the Columbine high school massacre. There seems to have been involvement of many more individuals than just the two boys, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold. The FBI has not investigated.

The FBI recently claimed that it lacked the time and staff to research where videos had ended up that revealed the extent of damage in the Oklahoma City bombings for which Timothy McVeigh was executed. The imputation of many survivors and witnesses is that McVeigh did not act alone and that bombs had been placed inside the building as well. The FBI seems resistant to reopening the case, even though a civil case is now being heard.

The 9/11 attacks remain extremely contentious, with a vast amount of information on the Internet questioning the official story as compiled by the 9/11 Commission. The FBI has thus far shown no interest in reopening or re-examining any part of what happened on that tragic day. Even the question of cell phone calls from the planes (there was no technology available to make the calls) has never been resolved satisfactorily. The FBI’s position today apparently is that they cannot explain the calls and have no idea how they occurred. There were no “plane phones” available either, so the calls could not have come from on-board.

These examples are merely a few of many where the FBI is seemingly actively impeding “justice.” In a recent controversial case, the FBI shut down the producer of “Liberty Dollars” after claiming that the dollars had been deliberately designed to compete with US currency. The case is a most controversial one and seems to show the FBI acting as gatekeepers for the current money system and the central banks behind it.

The anthrax investigation, meanwhile, has not been reopened because the FBI has already come to a well-publicized conclusion. The Obama administration, in opposing a reasonable reopening of the case, explained that further examination of FBI conclusions might cause the public to doubt the FBI’s handling of the investigation.

In other words, the FBI might well be wrong about the case and the “suicide” of the main suspect, but a re-examination of the evidence might show the FBI had come to erroneous conclusions. It is more important apparently for the FBI to be perceived as reaching the “right” conclusions than to BE right.

In the Internet Reformation era, such political calculations may go by the wayside. Over time, the FBI’s operations are coming to be seen as increasingly suspect. The Liberty Dollar case has been extraordinarily contentious within the libertarian community. As the cases add up, generally, where the FBI is perceived as being a gatekeeper for elite interests rather than an enforcement agency, those who run the organization will doubtless find its credibility is generally eroding.

Over time, politically oriented intelligence agencies tend to come into disrepute. The resentment builds and finally there is no political will to continue with the organization’s activities, which are increasingly seen as illegal and abusive. In dramatic cases, the organization is eventually dissolved. The East German Stasi comes to mind.
