Governments Finally Crack the Code on How to ‘Fix’ Inflation

Here’s our Friday roll-up of the most ridiculous stories from around the world that are threats to your liberty, risks to your prosperity… and on occasion, inspiring poetic justice.

Governments to Tackle Surging Prices With… More Free Money!

With inflation at 8% and gas prices topping $6 per gallon in some parts of the US, the bright minds in government have come up with a solution: send more stimulus checks!

California Governor Newsom proposes spending $11 billion to send $400 checks to every car owner in the state.

The governor of Maine, “in the face of record high inflation and rising oil” will send $850 checks to Maine residents, redistributing some of the state’s budget surplus.

At the federal level, one politician has proposed a “windfall profit tax on excessive corporate profits” in the oil and gas industry, and to send the tax proceeds back to the American people in the form of a tax rebate.

Another bill proposes sending $100 to each taxpayer (plus $100 for each dependent) each month in 2022 that gas prices average above $4 per gallon.

It’s genius! Refuse to acknowledge that printing the money needed to send Americans over $3,000 each in stimulus checks during 2020-2021 contributed to inflation. Then just do it again!

Then we can do the same thing next year when gas reaches $8 per gallon and inflation is at 16%.

From 1999-2019 alcohol related deaths rose by an average of 2.2% per year in the United States.

Then in 2020, alcohol related deaths shot up by 25% killing an additional 20,000 Americans compared to 2019.

The increase was worst among young men; those aged 25-34 saw a 37% increase in alcohol related deaths, and for men aged 35-44 the increase was nearly 40%.

It’s no secret that authoritarian COVID lockdowns and restrictions caused an unprecedented mental health crisis.

This surge in alcohol-related deaths is yet another example of that mental health crisis. So is the skyrocketing suicide rate and highest ever number of drug overdoses.

But will any public health officials or politicians ever be held responsible for their decisions?

European Society of Cardiology Bans Russian Doctors

The European Society of Cardiology (ESC) has banned Russian and Belarusan doctors from being members of the society, or participating in any of its activities or events.

In a statement, the ESC said:

“Please let us emphasize that this extraordinary measure is not at all directed against cardiologists, scientists, and other ESC members from the Russian Federation or Belarus. They are not to blame for the war.”

What? They literally just said they were banning cardiologists based solely on the country they were unlucky enough to be born in.

Of course this is directed against innocent Russians — last time I checked, Putin is not a cardiologist.

The Russian hysteria is totally out of control.

Pittsburgh Port Authority Begins Vaccine Mandate, Adds to Supply Chain Woes

As COVID finally fades, somehow the Pittsburgh Port Authority thought now was a good time to implement a vaccine mandate for its employees.

The March 15 deadline, which is being opposed by the union representing workers, sparked protests and staff shortages as workers called out sick.

The Port Authority has now fired four unvaccinated workers, while six others have retired. Plus another 300 plus unvaccinated workers are awaiting disciplinary action.

Gee I wonder why these supply chains won’t fix themselves…
