Libertarians say Rand Paul betrayed his father's principles after endorsing Romney … When Dr. Rand Paul ran for U.S. Senate in Kentucky, many of his fund-raising appeals were sent to the donors and supporters of his father, Congressman Ron Paul. They were designed to convince Ron's supporters that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. That Rand was, like his legendary father, a steadfast champion of liberty. But no true libertarian, no true friend of liberty, and no true blue Tea Partier could possibly even consider, much less actually endorse or approve of, the Father of Obamacare, Big Government tax and spender, Republican Mitt Romney. Especially the son of Ron Paul, who has no excuse. – Libertarian Party Press Release
Dominant Social Theme: Without Ron and Rand Paul there will be no freedom.
Free-Market Analysis: We've written two articles about Rand Paul's misguided endorsement of GOP potential presidential candidate Mitt Romney.
In the first article, we discussed the inevitability of what we call the Internet Reformation – and its ongoing expansion. In the second article we discussed the idea that Ron Paul's legacy is actually the information provided to people about freedom, how money works and how free societies could be organized in a sustainable way.
In the second article we also discussed Ron Paul's contribution to the larger freedom conversation and his legacy as an educator. You can see the two articles here:
Basing a freedom movement around specific leaders is a kind of contradiction in terms. While we've certainly backed Ron Paul (and even Rand Paul) as candidates, the larger perspective we've tried to share is that each individual is responsible for his or her own future and survival.
The ultimate sociopolitical dominant social theme is representative democracy. In fact, electing someone you don't know personally to share his or her views with hundreds of others in a ritualized legislative process is to invite disappointment.
If Ron Paul did any service for the power elite it was to reinforce the idea that representative democracy is a way to reconfigure society positively and redeem freedoms that have been lost. It's not.
Austrian economics gives us a realistic solution to this dilemma, however. It is called human action, and Ludwig von Mises explained it eloquently. Each of us is capable of taking human action to avoid what we fear and to support what we believe is necessary.
It is somewhat debatable whether voting is part of this process. What IS part of the process is proactive actions that help insure survival and prosperity during a time when society is involved in breaking down, as it is now.
What Rand or Ron Paul do as legislative representatives has little to do with YOUR survival in an epoch where the powers-that-be are apparently willing to inflict massive amounts of chaos in order to realize their goal of world government.
Of course, the Libertarian Party itself feeds the power elite promotion regarding representative democracy. In this press release it slams Rand Paul in order to reaffirm its own superiority. Here's some more from the release:
Earlier this year, Rand Paul showed his willingness to sell out his supporters when he called higher federal government spending a "spending cut" – Orwellian language used routinely by Big Government Democratic and Republican politicians.
Sorry, Senator Paul. An increase is an increase, whether it's a big increase or a really, really big increase in federal government spending … As Sherlock Holmes would note, it's the dog that didn't bark that proves Rand Paul made a devil's deal with Big Government Mitt Romney.
It's what Rand Paul did not say that Mitt Romney will support that tells us what we really need to know … Vote Libertarian – the only political party that embraces the same core value as Dr. Ron Paul: Liberty!
The Libertarian Party has a party platform just as Rand Paul has a personal platform. When that platform interacts with other platforms legislatively, the outcome is uncertain.
One cannot control the legislative process or even the laws that are generated by it. One can only get out of the way as best one can.
As we have pointed out before, Western societies are starting to disintegrate. The legislative processes by which people consider themselves bound are going to begin to disintegrate as well.
People will not starve quietly without the possibility of employment. A society that cannot provide basic necessities is a society that has lost credibility. People are not going to obey the rules when the result is only certain misery.
People who understand what is going on and who are willing to take human action are going to be less affected by the growing social chaos than those who continue to function within the box that education, custom and habit has placed them.
Buy precious metals and take delivery. Figure out a food source and a source for potable water. Create an alternative energy solution if possible within the context of your larger shelter. Practice how to defend yourself. Do what is necessary to prepare for a time when you shall have to be more independent, not less.
It may be that the present and increasingly chaotic conditions are beaten back, but the lessons of independence should remain. Society has not been shaped for YOUR benefit, but to control you and the rest of what the elites evidently consider to be expendable masses.
Voting for individual representatives within the context of the current Leviathan is probably not a priority. Republics that have degraded into empires rarely if ever return to their previous condition via the ballot box.
Take "human action" and build your own freer future – with your family, friends and other like-minded individuals.
